Mysteries that I read during July:
A Dangerous Place - continuation of a series
The Cartographers - a book I have been avoiding
Fatality in F - continuation of a series by BPOC author
Mexican Gothic - another book I have been avoiding

All were 4* reads for me.

Bea,

I know you said you gave it 5*, but how "horror-y" did you find [Mexican Gothic|62064401]. I've been avoiding reading it because More people shelved it as Horror than anything else, and I often have trouble with books like that.

I hadn't heard of the Gethsemane Brown series. I'll check that out.

I read four books shelved as mysteries this month. I rated them all at the top level of 3*, which is where a lot of the mysteries I read end up.

Spy x Family Vol 1
This seems like a cute, fun manga series. I'll read more of them.
Kindred in Death
I keep coming back to this series. I don't know what I'll do when I've read the last of them.
The IT Girl
The Jury Master

Susan, that is the very reason that I avoided this book for so long. Yes, there is horror related to the house, but somehow the relationships and the strong woman struggle to believe in the good kept me going even through the "horror". It was a chance to root for the woman and love. However, I admit to only reading it during the day!
