Play Book Tag discussion

This book begins with a prologue that throws you right into the story. Skye Sedgewick is on her way to her car when she's kidnapped, drugged, and threatened with death. It soon becomes apparent that she's been kidnapped for ransom when she overhears her kidnapper on the phone, threatening her wealthy father. Then the kidnapper grabs her hand and chops a piece off her little finger. I wouldn't consider this a spoiler since it happens at the very beginning of the book. They are aboard a sailboat in the Sea of Cortez and after a few days she starts to fall under his spell ala Stockholm Syndrome.

Despite this novel's gritty and sometimes violent twists and turns, this book is advertised as a love story. The story is threaded with flashbacks from the past, narrated by Skye, Esteban, and Damian. It seemed obvious from the beginning what was really going on.

This novel has a lot of positive reviews but it just didn't work for me.
