🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

A romantically intriguing premise but I really should not have fallen for that. The telling of tales was indeed engaging and characters are truly flawed. All very realistic including the ending which was just... le sighs, not what I wanted!

While the prose is really quite easy and likeable, I had huge conflicts of feelings for these characters. Mostly because they were Germans in WWII and had huge blinkers on. I totally understand that these characters were basically keeping their heads down for survival and I might have done the same in their place but it is very difficult to read historically (retrospectively?) on these sort of issues. I kept hoping that they will open their eyes and DO something but my hopes were in vain.

I can appreciate the prose, the setting, and just how realistic this novel is but I cannot say I love it. I just can't.

I liked this one better than you, though because of some of the subjects it deals with, I can't say that I "enjoyed" it.
