We agreed that it was a very descriptive, closely observed book. But while most of us enjoyed the pictures evoked, it wasn't to everyone's taste, mainly because it lacked a central argument, scientific basis and precise locations. While it was refreshing not to have the narrator's personal life front, left and centre, we felt that a bit more context would have been useful.
