Nancy Regan "You're like those nineteenth-century novels where marriage is the only career option for a middle-class girl", says almost-Mrs. Dashwood towards the end of this 21st century rendition of the immortal Jane's 18th century classic. And there is indeed a lot more scheming and dreaming about marrying for money than any woman would admit to being interested in in the 20 teens. But it is amusing to imagine Elinor and Marianne having the ability to text each other in the original, and to think of the Middleton small fry as "totes adorable".

There's a whole geometry text of love triangles here, so many that it's hard to keep them straight until they sort themselves in the last few pages. Even though the plot follows Austen's faithfully, there still manages to be a twist or two at the end. Not great literature, perhaps, but an entertaining guilty pleasure for a rainy Friday.
