I finished the book and I really enjoyed it! It was nice not reading an epic fantasy with insane world-building. The concept with the spores was interesting! This was the first Brandon Sanderson book I have read, and I am interested to read some of his other work because of his interrelating worlds in the "Cosmere".
I can't tell if I like Tress... and I hate it!! She was very mechanical at times and it annoyed me. I understand being methodical, especially with a mission at hand, but, I enjoy the humanization of characters who are a hot mess now and then!
That being said, she is a little badass! Escapes from smugglers, becomes a captain of a pirate ship, saves her man, and breaks all the curses... What a woman!
I thoroughly enjoyed this whimsical lil read :)
i truly enjoyed this book so much! it was so silly, and whimsical, and magical, and humorous. i loved that Hoid was the narrator — his curse was so funny, and his little quips about what he was doing/thinking while under the curse’s influence killed me. i loved the charlie twist and that they were able to grow together throughout the journey. i’m also a sucker for a good happy ending. this was just an all-around feel good book!
i LOVED this - i want to read everything by brandon sanderson now. I usually find male authors to be very dry and unemotional in their writing style but this was a super fun and cute read, and sandersons writing style was really entertaining. he brought the characters to life in a very short amount of time and i thought the story was so unique. just overall a really great stand alone for me and i feel like that’s so hard to come across in fantasy !!
