A friend of mine is from MInnesota and a few years ago she recommended The Lager Queen of Minnesota to our F2F group. We liked it. That was 2020 so I'm not counting it for this challenge. I have Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club by the same author on deck for this one. Unfortunately I have nothing on deck for the Dakotas!

Tina, I am currently reading The Mighty Red by Louise Erdrich, and it is set in North Dakota. Started a little slow (although that was likely the result of unrelated outside sources), but picked up after a few short chapters. It is quite different from any other Louise Erdrich I have read, but I have not read any in a while.

Hey Gail, if you're still having trouble finding a chihuahua based story, it's not a whole novel, but the story "El Paso del Norte" from the collection The Burning Plain and Other Stories takes place on the US/Mexico border in Chihuahua and Cuidad Jaurez is in there too. Most of the other stories in the book take place in Jalisco.
