Dune is a rip off of Star Wars

Obviously, Dune is based on Star Wars.

I'm in Frank Herbert took a ton of melange to see waves of Time that brought him an early preview of Star Wars. Hell, he even knew it would be called A New Hope before it was called A New Hope.

How else can anyone explain it:

Two suns and two moons, check
Desertic planet Dune and Tatooin, check
Caladan and Naboo, check
Incest between siblings, check
The Voice, check
Prescient nightmares, check
Religious and political mindfuck, check
Empire Strikes Back, check check check!!!

C'mon!

There are definitely similarities. But Dune was published more than 10 years before Star Wars. So it was Star Wars that took their inspiration from Dune.

How does someone who reads not know to look up publishing dates before making these kinds of statements?

I disagree to agree.

Ya’ll slow?

Love both a lot and can say that Star Wars was inspired by Dune as stated by George Lucas himself, but they are both so different as well. The lore between them both is so vast and is perfect for their respective realms.

Big fan of SW but I have to SW was inspired by Dune. It’s very clear from the get go

I fell for the bait and came here with the full intention of giving a 'well, actually ...' comment.

Well played, sir. Well played indeed.

Love this. You gotta realise, Dune is SOOO good, that it's become internalised. I'm looking for blue within blue eyes, I almost think that space fold travel is real science, and I had to stop and think twice to register that melange doesn't actually exist in the real world so Frank Herbert couldn't have taken it and therefore couldn't have "prescienced" Star Wars!

Nice one!

(deep disappointed sigh)
…wait a second. Never mind. I take back the deep disappointed sigh. I completely fell for that, unfortunately
