Richly exploring Filipino American culture and history, Randy Ribay’s novel delves into four generations of father-son relationships, showcasing how each generation’s experiences can shape personal and familial expectations and relationships. Do you believe Everything We Never Had has a chance at Prinz podium?

Whitney (whitneymouse) | 3 comments I love Randy Ribay’s previous book, Patron Saints of Nothing. This was just as beautiful. It reminds me a lot of a YA version of Homegoing if y’all have read that.

Heather | 50 comments I haven't read anything that does quite as good a job showing readers how generational trauma builds up and how young adults calcify into the people they become. Heart-rending. I did find it a bit annoying how de-centered women are in this book, but I appreciate what Ribay is doing.
