It's time for our next round of suggestions!

Just a reminder that you can find a full list of prompts already on the 2025 list in the third post on this thread.

How Suggestions Work:
- The topics for the 2025 reading challenge list will be determined by a series of mini-polls, the number of which depends on the number of prompts winning in each mini-polls
- Suggestions for each poll will be opened until 15 suggestions are received and “seconded”.
- The voting thread will open the day after suggestions go live. You can find the schedule here.

Rules:
- Each member can only suggest OR second one prompt
- Suggestions close after 15 total seconded prompts

When suggesting and seconding, feel free to provide examples and descriptions that may help other members understand the prompt better. These descriptions and examples will be copied over to the voting thread for further discussion.

As always, please express any and all feedback (respectfully, of course), either here or in The Wild Discussion.

Moving on to Voting:
1. A book set during a revolution, revolt, or rebellion
2. A book that has won an Alex Award
3. A book with a common household object on the cover
4. A book with zombies
5. A book with text partially obscured by the cover art
6. A book that includes something mentioned in William Shakespeare's Sonnet #25
7. A book related to one of the traditional full moon names
8. A book with a curmudgeon or grumpy character
9. A book that fits three other prompts on this list
10. A candidate for a prestigious literary award
11. A Gothic book
12. A book where you hope or expect to learn something new
13. A book you'd consider a comfort read
14. A book related to one of the top ten cereals of all time
15. A book with a trial

To Be Seconded:
- A book with a 2 and/or 5 in the ISBN number
- A book with a touch of science

message 5: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 702 comments A book that has won an Alex Award.

The Alex Awards are given out annually to 10 adult books that would appeal to teens.
I'll post links to lists when I get back to my computer, also found in the Wild Discussion thread

message 6: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 201 comments A book that fits three other prompts on this list.

A KIS option is to count "Reader’s choice" from the 2016 list and only fit your book to two other prompts.

Examples:

Translated novel from Asia, coastal setting, fantasy or sci-fi by a woman Kiki's Delivery Service

Art, music, etc., Irish author, secrets, lies, or deception The Picture of Dorian Gray

Best book of the month thread 2024, waves on the cover, reader’s choice from 2016 Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

Related to fire, title with ten or fewer letters, suggestion that didn’t make the list (set before 1900) Jane Eyre

message 11: by Dixie (new)

Dixie (dixietenny) | 1477 comments A book with a common household object on the cover.

Whatever you consider a household object counts! I don't have specific Listopia lists yet but will add them if this gets through. Meanwhile, this amazing site has lists of cover pictures of many, many things, including lots of household objects: https://fictionophile.com/cover-love-...

message 12: by MJ (new)

MJ | 1017 comments Suggestion:
Read a book where you hope or expect to learn something new.

I hope it’s ok, Nancy, that I’m taking what I read from you in the other thread just now. It could be science or a micro history or something cooking related. It’s rather broad and leaves it open to people’s interests.

message 19: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 239 comments A book that includes something mentioned in William Shakespeare's Sonnet #25:

Let those who are in favour with their stars
Of public honour and proud titles boast,
Whilst I, whom fortune of such triumph bars,
Unlook'd for joy in that I honour most.
Great princes' favourites their fair leaves spread
But as the marigold at the sun's eye,
And in themselves their pride lies buried,
For at a frown they in their glory die.
The painful warrior famoused for fight,
After a thousand victories once foil'd,
Is from the book of honour razed quite,
And all the rest forgot for which he toil'd:
Then happy I, that love and am beloved
Where I may not remove nor be removed.

For instance a book with: princes, victories, honor, sun, stars, leaves etc...

message 28: by LeahS (new)

LeahS | 1483 comments Kelly doesn't seem to be about to propose her suggestion, so here it is:

A book related to one of the traditional full moon names.

https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy...

https://www.nps.gov/apis/learn/histor...

January: Great Spirit Moon / Wolf Moon
February: Sucker Moon / Snow Moon
March: Crusted Snow Moon / Worm Moon
April: Sugaring Moon / Pink Moon
May: Flower Moon / Milk Moon / Mother's Moon
June: Strawberry Moon / Planting Moon / Mead Moon
July: Halfway Through Summer Moon / Buck Moon
August: Blueberry Moon / Sturgeon Moon / Dispute Moon
September: Ricing Moon / Harvest Moon
October: Bright Leaves Moon / Hunter Moon
November: Icing Over Moon / Beaver Moon / Mourning Moon
December: Little Spirit Moon / Cold Moon

There are usually 13 full moons in a year, so by month isn't particularly accurate, but works for this purpose!
