**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**
Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊
I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though. I will use the team leader as a point of contact if needed.
Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.
PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 12, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉
Hello all! I'm Ariel and this is always one of my favorite challenges throughout the year. I am a substitute teacher so I always have lots of free time for reading. Obviously, I love romance novels but some of my favorite sub genres are definitely thriller/suspense. I have been team leader in the past but I don't know if this time is the right time to do that. I live in south Florida and am in a pretty direct path of Hurricane Milton. We did not evacuate but we are more than prepared with supplies, shelter, etc. The worry I have is losing power/internet and being team leader so I think someone else should be the point of contact. I will do my best to have continuous check ins since I will have phone availability/charging.
Hello team! My name is Shandrea, I live in southern Idaho, MST. I haven't been a team leader for this challenge before but if no one else wants the gig, I can do it 👍🏼I read mostly contemporary romance. I don't read very much historical or paranormal romance, but I always have books ready for those kinds of tasks.
Ariel, that is so scary!! My brother in law lives in Forth Worth and evacuated to Miami yesterday. Florida has been all I can think about today..

I have some great news! We fared pretty well during the storm - no house damage/yard damage. We did have a tornado in the neighborhood, about a block away, and we lost power due to that around 12pm yesterday. It's late but we just got it back on and for that, I am grateful.
If I have the right city, I am about 2 hours away from there. My aunt and cousins daughter did the same and evacuated to Florida City.
I don't mind picking up the team leader now that everything is good here.
Hi, I am adding Ella to your team! 😊 If the others show up, you will just have 5, otherwise you will be a team of 3. We will wait until tomorrow to determine how it will end up.
hi Team! thanks for having me! I read all types of romance...lately I've been heavy into mystery/suspense and contemporary, but I can shift as needed to complete a task...I'm in the southeast suburbs of Chicago, so central time for me.@Ariel...I'm glad to hear you made it through the hurricanes safely!
Hi Team 12, Denise and Em have been removed from your team. Ella never checked in. Going forward, you will be a be a of three and tasks will be adjusted as needed. I can guarantee, I will forget to adjust a task - probably more than once. Please reach out if that happens and I will correct. 😊
Hi. Ella here, sorry i didn't expect I'd get a chance to join in so soon. but ill check in regularly from now onwards. im from India and i read all sub genres of Romance
Ella wrote: "Hi. Ella here, sorry i didn't expect I'd get a chance to join in so soon. but ill check in regularly from now onwards. im from India and i read all sub genres of Romance"You are good. I will add you back in. 😊
Hi, the first task has been posted... i prefer paranormal, but i can look for a book to match the colour if we select that.
Sorry I didn't respond right away. Welcome to the team, Ella & Kathy! <3 Did we also want to come up with a name? I have a couple ideas if no one else has any. I can't promise they're great. LOLI am more than okay with the paranormal - I would rather do that one than the colors.
1. Cool. So shall we start with paranormal? Just to confirm, what's the minimum page required for the novel to be acceptable? 2. Also, i have access to my laptop but most of the time i use my phone since I travel for 3-4 hours every day and so i spend this time answering msgs and stuff but the Goodreads mobile app is very limited and sucks 😞.
3. thank you for the Welcome 🤗. let's hear the names u have selected.. i haven't thought of any.
Edit: I found the word limit.. it is 150 words (had to use my laptop to find it.... the app seriously sucks)
Paranormal it is. I'll message Shandrea to remind her that the challenge has started. Goodreads and this notification situation need to stop it - I miss my emails letting me know when someone has responded. :( Since it's October, I thought that maybe we could do something spooky themed or halloween based?
1. #SquadGhouls
2. The Fearless Four
3. The Curious Cats
Or some romance based since we're in the romance readers group;
4. Tangled in Love
5. Wooed by Words

One Fell Sweep, Ilona Andrews – 10/14/24 – ✮✮✮✮✮
first English e-book (no English Kindle version) ➔ 340 pages
qualification ➔ MPG paranormal
l was wondering if while waiting maybe we should also discuss some of the group tasks since other groups seem to have discussed what series or books they would have to share and do together.
Sorry I’m a few days late. I ended one job and I’m starting another. Stressful is an understatement. But I still want to participate if allowed.
Ella wrote: "l was wondering if while waiting maybe we should also discuss some of the group tasks since other groups seem to have discussed what series or books they would have to share and do together."that’s a great idea! that way if we receive a task that requires a group decision it will already be made.
That is a wonderful idea, Ella! I'm going to put together a list of tasks that require a team decision and we can all fill it out.Update: I compiled a list and posted it of all of the team decisions task. Fill out what you can, etc and I will update it as we go based on our decisions.

Cool. Once Shandrea is done with her book we can get task 2.
Ariel wrote: "Task List: Team DecisionsEach player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.

Ok just focusing on the the first 2 tasks mentioned here; I compared our bookshelves to find some common ground and either 3 or all 4 of us have read/shelved these authors and/or their series:
R.L. Mathewson (we have all shelved Playing for Keeps which is from Neighbor from hell series) her other series like Pyte/Sentinel series is also very good.
Richelle Mead (Vampire academy and Bloodlines Series)
Harry Potter series and Twilight Series
Authors we have shelved that have good books (mainly standalones) :
Jennifer Cruise
Vi Keeland (Im longing to read Bossman by Vi)
Susan Elizabeth Phillips (She also has some series)
Sarra Manning and Sophie Kinsella (These 2 authors were in only 2 of our shelves but I think all of us would like their books.
Note: Some of these authors/series can work for both the tasks (First 2 tasks listed by Ariel)
Ella wrote: "Ariel wrote: "Task List: Team DecisionsEach player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.

These are just suggestions based on our compared lists. We can of course always suggest other series that are not shelved and check them out.
I'm good with most of these...so here are my thoughts!R.L. Mathewson: I really enjoyed the books I've read from Playing for Keeps...I'd love to reread or jump into the next book!
Richelle Mead: I read the first book in the VA series and am fine reading more...the book didn't WOW me, but it was a solid story.
Harry Potter: I haven't reread this series in a long time, such an amazing story!
Twilight: I reread book 4 for another challenge earlier this year, but am happy to reread any of these books.
Jennifer Cruise: I believe I've only read one book by this author, but I'm game for more!
Vi Keeland: Her books are always a good idea!
Susan Elizabeth Phillips: This is another author I've only read one book by, but am happy to read more.
Sarra Manning: I've never read anything by this author, but I'm happy to try!
Sophie Kinsella: I've read a couple of her books and would rather not read more. That said, I'm sure I can find something if the rest of you really enjoy her work.

I think R.L. Mathewson's Neighbor from Hell Series would be good for the series task. Ariel and Shandrea ...what do you think?
Also, the books aren't too long so we can finish them fast. Other teams seems to have moved on to task 4.
☘KathyD☘ wrote: "Susan Elizabeth Phillips: This is another author I've only read one book by, but am happy to read more."How can you live in the Chicago area and have only read one book by SEP?! Well, I know what to pick for you the next time we are paired in the PIFM... 😊
Since I was here to change your team name, I figured I would check your books through here. It has been 2 days since the last person finished their book and Ariel has messaged Shandrea, but no response yet. (It has been 6 days since her last comment.) I am going to assign your second task and hopefully she will check in soon. I won't remove her unless she doesn't show up soon - she is usually more responsive.
Here is your next task!Task 2 - 5. Read 4 books first published within the last year.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to have been initially published on or after October 19, 2023. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use it. Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format as the qualification. Please include the initial publication date of your selected book in your completion post.
