Hi, all.

Here's a no spoilers thread for discussing Different Seasons by what's-his-name -- right on the tip of my tongue -- geez -- oh, yeah, Stephen King.

Enjoy!

Shannon M (Canada) (shannon40) Okay. First comment. “Different Seasons” contains four novellas, and three of these have been made into movies. How many of you have seen the movies? If you saw one or more, did you see the movie first or read the story first?

My answer: The book “Different Seasons” was first published in 1982. That’s over forty years ago. I read it soon after it was released, because I’m old.

The first movie was “Stand By Me”, released in 1986. It was based on King’s story entitled “The Body”. Although I remember the story well, I never saw the movie.

The second movie was “The Shawshank Redemption” released in 1994. It was based on King’s story entitled “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption”. I still remembered the story when I saw the movie (on VHS) a few months after it was released. I watched that VHS several times and later purchased the movie on DVD.

The third movie was “Apt Pupil” released in 1998. It was based on King’s story entitled “Apt Pupil”—the only movie to have the same name as the novella. I watched it on VHS once, soon after it was released.
