While we love our Jane Austen, most of us read a variety of books, topics, genres, etc and we like to share about them with our fifty best reading buddies. Here is a place where you can recommend non-Austenesque books or start a discussion about non-Austenesque books. I do ask you to please remember to be courteous b/c everyone has their own tastes and please limit discussion/recommendation of Non-Austenesque books to here. Thanks!

Jen B | 258 comments For anyone looking for some North & South FF, I stumbled across this this morning and it's not too bad (still a work in progress) - I've only read the first 3 chapters so far - be warned it does not appear to be a Margaret/Thornton pairing.

Another Helstone Girl | J. Thornton by Thebookgirl25
Eleanor Weston swore she would never return to Milton. The smoky air, the endless hum of machinery, and the memories of a past she wished to forget-it was all behind her. But when the Hales decide to move north, she refuses to let Mrs. Hale arrive in a place unfit for her delicate health. Determined and independent, Eleanor journeys to Milton alone, a month ahead of them, to prepare their new home.
What she doesn't expect is John Thornton.
At Mr. Hale's request, the stern and formidable mill master offers his reluctant assistance, drawn to the young woman who seems out of place yet utterly at home in his city. Her quiet strength fascinates him, her defiance challenges him, and her kindness unsettles him in ways he cannot explain. But Eleanor has secrets of her own-secrets that could change everything.
Because John Thornton's landlord, the man he respects, the man whose name holds weight in Milton... is the father she abandoned long ago.
When the truth comes to light, will pride and past wounds drive them apart? Or will love find a way through the smoke and shadows of Milton?

I've only read the Persuasion one, but it was good stuff. I need to read the Jane and Edward one.
