I enjoyed it too. Coincidentally I've been reading a book on all the variations on the Faust story so the idea of the "Brass Head of Bacon" was fresh in my mind.

Decent story. The idea of a robot having limited vocabulary seems a bit quaint now in this era of generative AI. But the emotional awakening of the robot was well done, as was its communication with the girl once you accept the vocabulary limitation.

A nice story which works much better if the true backstory is known. The robot in question was a minor adventure in Фактор світу, where it is checked for possible 'before its time' sentient robot. See wiki for the real one https://www.wikiwand.com/en/articles/...
