Discussion: We can use this thread to plan for each quarter’s mood(s), as well as recommend and review books. This website to help you choose a book by mood: https://www.whichbook.net/mood-emotion/
The vocabulary is not the same as our quarterly mood binaries, but it can steer you in the right direction.
To encourage us to continue to embrace reading diverse books, I set up a DIVERSE FICTION thread to comment on as we see fit. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I had a hard time locking down book picks for this first quarter because I am very NOT in the habit of choosing a book by its mood.I read Dungeons and Drama for my cozy pick. It was fluffy and fun and had a happy ending.
I have Message Not Found on deck for my severe book.
I finished both moods for Quater 1! Message Not Found delivered in being sad most of the way through. It had a little mystery as well and was completely believable. The ending was hopiful and healing which I appreciated.

Explanation: This year’s quarterly challenge is going to be a pause from the traditional diverse reading and challenge you to pay attention to the moods you feel as you read and to embrace all the emotions. Books for this challenge can be any genre and do not have to be YA books.
Moods by Quarter:
♦January - March: Cozy vs. Depressing
♦April - June: Humorous vs. Eerie
♦July - September: Optomistic vs. Angry
♦October - December: Romantic vs. Heartbreaking
There are few reading modes you can embrace:
*Just the Light Stuff: Read 2 books each quarter that build up positive emotions.
*Embrace Your Darkness: Read 2 books each quarter that focus on our negative vibes.
*Ying & Yang: Read both Dark and Light books equally each quarter
