Right on, John! Great list! Let's be sure to discuss the catalogue of ships during a rosy fingered dawn. I loved Oryx and Crake, All the Pretty Horses, and Lamentation. I look forward to discussing The Count of Monte Cristo and Washington's Spies. with you. I am hoping to finish Washington by the end of the year so we can discuss that too. Happy Reading!
Any list with All the Pretty Horses, is a good list indeed. I loved that book and cried throughout. *sigh*
Good luck and happy reading

Ambitious list, John, I really like it. I've only read The Calculating Stars and The Count of Monte Cristo, and they are both excellent. Some of the others are on my radar too, but there are some I am not familiar with, and I can't wait to see your reviews. Happy reading!
I've only read Oryx and Crake, an excellent trilogy. I hope to read The Calculating Stars and Lamentation in 2025. The rest of your selections look very interesting. A diverse selection.
All the Pretty Horses is great...but you know that...since it's a re-read. I also enjoyed The Iliad (and I've been reading Fry's retellings of Greek stories in the Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold series which I was surprised at how well I thought he integrated the different stories. I just finished Troy retold the Iliad in prose. Now I want to re-read The Iliad also. I also enjoyed Oryx and Crake and The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite books of all time. Happy reading.
The Count of Monte Cristo is excellent. Despite its length, I found it to be a relatively quick read both times I read it. I have read the Iliad twice also. It was better as an adult than a high schooler. The Shadow Speaker is not the author's best work, but it was still worth reading. Happy reading!
Kudos on knocking out the first book, John!!
I actually loved The Iliad when I read it; I hope you enjoyed it, as well.
