Shadow and bone was an easier read the first time around but six of crows is much better in my opinion, with better characters
It is kind of a lot to take in the first time around, but during my first read of the series Crooked Kingdom absolutely floored me and it ended up becoming a favourite, whereas shadow and bone just faded into the background along the slew of YA fantasy I’ve read

Shadow and bone introduces the magic system and stuff though, like technically it comes first but 💀

the premiere is where all the red carpet photos and interviews happen and it's the first time its screened/debuted
my friends and i snuck into the deadpool premiere in nyc so we got to see kings ryan and hugh, and other cast, but you needed to actually be invited to the premiere to actually see the movie so we couldn't lol

There are some that don’t do it like older YA romantasy such as Dance of Thieves, or a few adult ones, the only one I can think of being One Dark Window which had a lot of romance but also plot

I hate how the romantasy label has become an excuse to be lazy on the plot. A romance isn’t enjoyable to me unless there is also a well written plot, and too often there isn’t one like why are we here 😭😭

besides fantasy, you could also try historical fiction (one of my favs) or even some middle grade series, like I personally LOVE the geronimo stilton series, because they're fun, lighthearted, or overall js better than the straight corn being mass produced all over booktok
