Summary

Can you imagine writing to Father Christmas and actually getting a reply? For more than twenty years, the children of J.R.R. Tolkien received letters from the North Pole - from Father Christmas himself! They told wonderful stories of mischief and disaster, adventures, and battles: how the reindeer got loose and scattered presents all over the place, how the accident-prone Polar Bear climbed the North Pole and fell through the roof of Father Christmas's house, and many others.

I can't wait to start this book. I've been meaning to read it for several years.

It was one I had been wanting to read for a long time, but actually kept forgetting every year. I got it from my library early because I know that the Christmas books get very hard to find after the beginning of the month. I have started it, but am only reading one or two letters a day so far. I am finding it delightful. I love how Tolkien changed his handwriting so his children wouldn't discern the letters to have been from him.
