Hi Dionne! I'm pretty new here too, having just published my first book. I am impressed by your self-awareness and your willingness to get out of your comfort zone! Once we recognize our defaults, we can then reevaluate and reconnect to why (or if) we want to operate that way. It doesn't mean you have to stop reading in fact it's an opportunity to expand what else is possible! Read on my friend and enjoy the exploration. 💜🙏

New to the site and group. I had a bit of an epiphany recently and was wondering (more like hoping) to find others I can discuss it with.
I am an avid reader and have been since I was a child. It was recently brought to my attention that I don't seem to read for pleasure but use books more as a bolt hole. I have to say that after giving it some thought I have to agree, when life gets hard (the past few years have been trying) I do tend to hide in a book. Upon further reflection it occurred to me that if I spent less time hiding in a book, life might not be so trying....I am still reeling a bit from the realization and finding it hard to articulate my thoughts and feelings other than to say that I reached a compromise with myself, instead of hiding in fiction this year, I am going to spend at least some of my time exploring the self-help world and to that end I bought my first non-dystopian, non-romance e-book last week.
