Like tella and evangline. THis makes no sense to me

yeahhhh that felt like a bit of a plot hole to me—I’ve read the trilogy 5 times and it still doesn’t really make sense. I think the way it was kinda explained is that the girl who would make Jacks’ heart beat again (Tella) would never love him, but the girl who is Jacks’ true love is immune to his kiss (Eva). Idk that’s the most sense I can make of it 🤷‍♀️

So like it was explained that the fact that only a girl who could never love Jack is immune to his kiss, but I guess true love always wins in the end and it was kind of like a fairytale. I don’t know. All I know is that I was happy when they ended up together.

I honestly dont know the answer to this but i heard someone say that because tella has legend blood in her she is immune to Jacks kiss. bu again isnt she Jacks true love if she made his heart beat again. gave this series a 5 star tho so fricken good

Idk. The book is kinda convoluted, and it has lots of plot holes. I do like it, but some parts just don’t make sense. (I’m pretty sure Stella wasn’t actually Jacks’ true love though)

You guys REALLY should read the rest of the trilogy

But it’s explained in the third book why Tella isn’t his true love. The actual curse it the one girl who survives his kiss will never be able to return his love. Not his one true love.

My understanding is that he was cursed so that the only person immune to his kiss is someone who could never love him. There was a chance with the people he kissed, they just always died. Jacks was Eva's true love because the apples (dragon fire) that tasted like your true love and hers tasted like Jacks(in a way). I think it may have had to do with Aurora or his heart being in the jar, but either way, he could kiss Eva.

Okay so basically the curse is said to be that "his one true love will survive his fatal kiss and make his heart beat again", however aurora, the one who out the curse on jacks in acftl (last book) said that the curse's story got twisted and the real curse is that the only person that survives his kiss is someone that will NEVER love him, so no, donatella was not his 'true love', rather the one to break the curse. Thats why eva didnt die when she kissed him, because the curse was already lifted!

What i don't understand is how jacks could love eva if he is immortale because in finale the only reason that tella and legend had such a hard time getting together was because he was immortale and could never really love her. They also say that jacks did not love tella but was only obsessed with her cuz he was immortale. Why was this not a problem in OUABH. Does this mean jacks never loved eva? I NEED ANSWERS.

I reread the trilogy its like um bc of the story curse people think its his true love who is immune to his kiss but like its actually who could never love him. So like Tella made his heart beat bc she would never be with him. and then like jacks thought he couldnt be with eva bc of tella so they could never love each other and then he became obsessed with not being able to be with her so they could like never be together and the curse allowed him to kiss eva? it didnt rlly make sense so idk

I think that its because Tella didn't love him back. The kiss only kills the girl if she is infatuated with him. Tella wasn't, so the kiss had no effect.

A curse for true love explains that Jacks' curse only doesn't kill the girl that will never love him and the story curse changed it to his curse kills his true love, so technically Tella is not his one true love. As for Evangeline, she broke the curse on Jacks (at least I'm pretty sure) so she and him can now freely love each other.

I am not sure tbh. But I guess maybe Eva survived the kiss because Jacks fall in love with her and became mortal (Like Legend and Fallen Star), so the cure was broken. So when Eva kissed him he was mortal. I don't know exactly that's how I understood.

Tella wasn't his true love. As soon as she fell in love with Legend she could NEVER love Jacks and thats what broke the curse (the story curse warped the story). My theory is that the was broken the whole time and he could have kissed Evangeline from the minute his heart started beating again, but he was too afraid to kiss her.

so from what i understand, tella is not jacks' one true love, bc the story curse got twisted into the one person that can survive the kiss is the person who can never return his love. eva is either his actual true love, or the curse got lifted when tella kissed jacks. IDK.

anyways as an answer to some of the other questions, i'm pretty sure that jacks isn't immortal or mortal (as of now). In caraval, it explains that all other fates will become "ageless" (as in they can't die of old age, but they can still die if wounded enough) if the fallen star (gavriel) dies.

ok so gavriel does die, meaning the fates are ageless now. that is why in ouabh, the fates flee valenda, bc they are scared of the citizens killing them. now, every fate is now kill-able if you wound them enough. jacks, is ageless, but ig he still can't love or he will turn mortal aka "human".

interestingly enough, he falls for eva as you might all know. that means, he is slowly turning human bc he loves a human. you may have noticed at the end of the third book, the story curse refers to eva as "the human girl" and jacks as "the not-so-human boy" implying jacks is not fully human, but not enough to be classified as not human.

ofc, i have only read these books once, so i'm also very confused but thats the way i interpreted it. there are plot holes, yes, but where there's a will, there's a way.
