Lilith had started a new job in dealing with patients in a phyc ward, she walked to a cell and knocked, to give the patient his breakfast for the morning.
Lying down on his bed, muscles all so seemingly stiff whilst he felt so drowsy with all the medications this he’ll of a place kept pumping into his system; Yuri had idly turned his head upon the knock, rather surprised to see a new face once the door swung open.
The blonde gave a nod of greeting as she shut the door "Hello Yuri, Im Nurse Lilith." she hummed to him as she placed his food at his table.
A seemingly discontented sigh escaped Yuri as he processed Lilith’s statement. ‘A new nurse…?’ he mused internally, irritation bubbling beneath the surface, the thought settling uncomfortably in his mind, before he made a half-hearted attempt to sit up, his movements sluggish and reluctant, whilst offering her a small nod of acknowledgment in the process.
She gave a nod back, she had soft green eyes and seemed to keep it calm "Well Yuri, Anything i can get you?" She looked at him, her blonde hair sitting beside her face.
Since Lilith came around with an unnervingly nice seeming demeanour, Yuri could not help but narrow his eyes at her, a flicker of suspicion crossing his features. Though he eventually shook his head slightly. “No…thanks” he then mumbled, his voice hoarse and raspy from the recent cold that had settled in his throat.
"Okie dokie" she smiled sweetly, the necklace she wore had a safety pin on it..A promise. She turned and started to walk towards the door.
Whilst idly looking at her, Yuri's gaze landed on her necklace, stirring a distant memory of his own brother who used to wear one just like it. Yet, just before he had been admitted into this place, he remembered his brother had stopped bothering with it altogether. This thought led him to ponder how his brother was doing, as the last time he had spoken to him - or anyone, really - was months ago. The guards and medics around here hardly ever allowed him to contact anyone.
"Remember, if you need anything just press the call button okay Yuri?" she glanced at him before walking out and shutting the door behind her, going off to handle other patients.
Subtly nodding back, Yuri watched as Lilith disappeared from view, leaving him alone with the typically bland breakfast that got served around here. “Are you sure you want to deal with this patient?” one of the guards standing down the hallway near Yuri’s room muttered, eyeing the new nurse with a mix of skepticism and concern.
"He is not bad, he is unsure of me currently though.I can handle him, i was here before..on a 72 hour hold." She looked at the guard and narrowed her eyes "He needs time, I will give him time and space as he needs."
The guard was seemingly so taken aback by Lilith’s words that he almost raised his hands in some sort of defense. “That’s what they all say…” he muttered, his tone laced with skepticism, “but alright” he added over his shoulder, as he headed off for another guarding rotation, leaving some sort of lingering tension in the air.
She huffed and went to her office, looking at his files and calling his Father and Mother for some information on him to assist her in helping him.
Barely any calls ever went out to Yuri’s parents, though it was Ms. Alistair who had picked up this call. “H...hello?” a soft and seemingly on-edge voice came through, the woman on the other end already concerned by the nature of the call - for truth be told, she had not heard anything about her son in what felt like forever. If anything, she had cut most ties with him because it hurt too much to know her own baby had ended up where he currently was.
"Hello?I am your sons new nurse, i would love to find out a little about your son so i can get him used to me easier.Im Lilith." She had a very soft and sweet, Comforting too.
Lilith’s sweet and comforting tone certainly did its part in making Ms. Alistair feel at ease. Yet, despite that, she could not help but feel a brief wave of sadness wash over her, for she was not too keen on discussing what had gone wrong in raising her son. “Right...” she replied, her voice steady but tinged with emotion. “What is it that you’d like to know?” she then asked calmly, running a hand through her short wavy hair, as if seeking to gather her thoughts and brace herself for the conversation ahead.
"Anything you can tell me, i need to gain trust as he isnt so keen on me and the guards think i wont be able to handle him." She hummed "If anything you may visit him anytime, just tell them Lilith gave you permission." She added to her statement.
If her own relationship with Yuri were not strained, the idea of paying him a visit would have been a true delight. But alas, that was not the case - because as far as she knew, he only truly appreciated the visits from Elias - his elder brother - , and sometimes Yelena - who held a special place in his heart as the youngest-. “I appreciate that, thanks” she then muttered. “And uhmm… well, this is kind of a mess” she continued, “and I’m sorry about that..”, “but Yuri’s always been a really tough person to get along with”, “he sort of never trusts anyone too easily…- and even if he eventually does, he still remains fairly secretive about a lot of things” she continued p, gradually explaining whilst far too many thoughts crashed against one another in her mind.
"Okay, You sound very...Uncertain..My report says you havent seen him since..two years ago?But Elias has.Whom is Elias?" She questioned.
Sighing softly, Anya sought to nod to no one but to herself within the emptiness of the house. “That’s right” she eventually said after a moment’s silence. “And Elias is his elder brother”, “he told me he came by to visit Yuri a few months back..”, “the staff did admit him in for the visit, but it took forever for them to initially agree upon it” she then briefly explained, although she figured perhaps all those details had been already provided before the nurse.
"Okay, i am going to take care of Yuri really quick and then i will call his brother, Thank you Ma'dam and have a great rest of your day." She hung up and got Yuri's lunch and brought it to him "Hey Yuri." She hummed.
Although Anya had not visited her son in what felt like forever, she felt a sense of uncharacteristic calm wash over her knowing that Yuri would be alright. The nurse seemed fairly understanding, and hopefully, she might be able to help him out. Upon hearing Lilith’s voice, Yuri had yet again been lying down on his bed with nothing better to do, blinking his eyes open. “Hi” he then mumbled, subtly tilting his head.
"I spoke with your mother by the way Yuri." She placed his food down "Very nice gal, I heard about your older brother too." She looked at him.She sighed "Why do the guards doubt my abilities eh?" She questioned, more to herself than him.
Considering he felt somewhat drowsy still, it was all too much to take in. “...what?”, “why...?” he said, the words slipping out almost instinctively, as he realised he had not heard anything about his mother in what felt like an eternity. Elias - well, he had seen him a few months back, but that had been a fleeting visit, barely enough time to catch up. Then processing her last statement, a cloud of confusion settled over him, and he merely raised an eyebrow, searching for clarity in the haze of his thoughts.
"She said your one thats very distrustful." She sat on the floor and chatted with yuri, keeping her distance. She looked at him "Why are the other nurses so terrified of ya?" She questioned "And the guards doubt me." She added to her last statement with confusion.
Upon hearing such, he hoped his mother had not said too much. Then and while he poked about his lunch, Yuri offered her a half nonchalant shrug. “I don’t know”, “maybe because I’m often moved to solitary confinement” he added, stating such with a calmness that sought to downplay just how much he despised that place. He often fought with every fiber of his being once he got thrown into there - but eventually, he would give in, just to be left alone for hours on end, grappling with the weight of his thoughts.
"And i would get closer but i got slapped by a patient earlier so im kinda on edge right now unlike this morning." She did infact have a slight black eye that was appearing slowly and a cut on her arm that was wrapped. She seemed to be in pain and on alert at the current moment.
Upon hearing her words, Yuri lifted his gaze to meet Lilith’s eyes, taking in the sight of her arm as well. “You know you can report whoever it is, right..?” he suggested in a rather neutral manner - as he was all too aware of the protocols, consequences and such that followed around here. For instance, and though many of his previous nurses often assured him they would not take any measures when things went amess; time and time again, he found himself confronted by guards that suddenly appeared, ready to escort him to the behavioural assessment wards as punishment of a sort.
"Eh, cant blame em i startled em.So yuri, im guessing your old nurses never sat and chatted with ya?"
At that point, Yuri could not help but think that Lilith was teetering on the edge of being too naïve. It was hard to ignore the reality that nurses like her, who were overly nice and understanding, rarely lasted long in a psych ward - after all, the environment was unforgiving. But he quickly pushed those thoughts aside, redirecting his focus back to her. “Hmm, no” he replied, his tone casual, “not really”, “there isn’t much to talk about anyway” he explained with a hint of indifference, as if the silence that enveloped them was a comforting shield - especially as it was far better than reliving memories of his frequent violent outbursts towards nurses, guards, and medics alike.
She gave a nod, there was something in her eyes that said she had a harsh past but refused to speak it.She was pretty silent about her home life towards the patients but the engagement ring around her finger said something about her..Possibly engaged, most likely not engaged due to how she acted. She had and kept her brick walls up, she kept her arms and legs covered with jeans or leggings as not to show any more skin than needed. She sighed "Yuri, i heard about your violent outbursts." She spoke suddenly.
Yuri averted his gaze, unwilling to meet Lilith's eyes. Instead, his attention drifted to the glimmer of what he presumed was an engagement ring adorning her finger, a silent acknowledgment that she likely had someone far better waiting for her beyond the confines of this grim place. His eyes then wandered about, before finally settling on a distant corner of the room, lost in thought. “Yeah…?” he muttered, his voice tinged with defensiveness. “Well, it’s not my fault” he then further added.
"I see you noticed the ring huh?" She sighed "My ex- fiance gave it to me before he left me.Now i just wear it around to get left alone." She hummed. She seemed to have a wall up that she wont let down but she seemed to trust him "We all are human, we all get outbursts, Violent or non.We are human and have feelings but I will be honest with you.You attack me and i will have no fear and defending myself." She was still calm, "I may not trust you but thats because of other issues in my life." she explained and left it as that.
A fleeting flush of awkwardness crept into Yuri's cheeks as he realised Lilith had caught him staring at her engagement ring. Normally, he was the type to keep to himself, but the sudden revelations about herself had left him momentarily speechless, grappling for the right words. The idea of offering her an apology flitted through his mind, but it felt out of place - he was not one to extend such gestures lightly. And so, he settled for a nod.
"I heard about your divorce too, its in my files on you." She hummed and to add on to her statement "You know, your one of my only patients whom haven't tried to attack me today." She hummed softly.
Briefly raising an eyebrow, Yuri was unable to hide the fleeting sense of discontent that washed over his expression. “Jee…- is there anything they don’t note down on those files?” he muttered, mostly to himself, before he was taken aback by her statement. “Well, I barely know you anyway” he then continued, “though all thanks would probably still go to those medications they keep pumping into my system” he added with a hint of amusement, his words punctuated by an ironic scoff.
"Yuri dont be like that with me, I have no control over that.My full name is Lilith Marie Moore, Im 22, I have a cat named Milo and a dog named Sir. I live alone and have no family that i speak to. Better?" She looked at him 'I have an ex husband and an ex- fiance, Got married at 18, divorced at 19, engaged at 20." She hummed.
Some sort of deafening silence had settled into Yuri’s ears moments after Lilith chose to share such details with him. His mouth opened and closed a few times, but nothing escaped his lips. “Why..-“, “why would you tell me any of this?” he finally managed to ask. “I thought you guys weren’t allowed...- to uhm, share anything besides the basics about yourselves…” he added, blinking a few times as if to ensure this was not just a haze of his imagination.
