I thought they were related in an earlier book. I didn't think they were sisters, maybe cousins. Tara is a politician, and repercussions will just slide right off.
I missed the implications from the earlier books or just tossed it as meaningless. This shocked me.

Yes, I recall book 1 stating that Josie’s scar was the striking difference between her and Trinity, that along w. their similarities described in the book, stuck w. me.Since Josie and Trinity are identical, I’m guessing she will get some slack. But her lack of trust in Josie can cause a hindrance in future cases if she continues this way.
I found this a little unbelievable. How can you or your friends not see the similarities of an identical twin? I've seen shows about twins who were separated at birth or as young children, and they all said they recognized their twin immediately.
