Lesley Jackson (thesweetromancelibrary) | 8 comments Do you think virtual readings are here to stay?

Some say they make events more accessible, while others feel they lack the magic of an in-person experience.

What’s your take?

K. Ross (author_kross) | 6 comments Good question! It definitely makes it more accessible to a broader audience, but yeah, I would think in person is always preferable when possible. I think we'll have both now...

Have you done virtual readings? If so, how did you market them and how did they go?

I have not, but I'm considering it. I've found readership in Australia and I really like the idea of being able to connect without a plane ride. Virtuality really broadens the reach.

K. Ross (author_kross) | 6 comments Are there virtual readings you've seen and liked? I am starting a YouTube Channel where I will read my novel chapter by chapter...soon!

Lesley Jackson (thesweetromancelibrary) | 8 comments That's great! No I know absolutely nothing. I think YouTube's a GREAT idea though. Will this be your first channel? I'd like to do the same. Just finished another book that will not be beholden to KDP Select, so I can use that one. It's a first in series. Let me know when you have your channel set up. I'd love to subscribe!

Thanks! Yeah, I've got the channel started! I have another one I started a long time ago and didn't do much with it. But this one, I'm now editing the first few chapters.
Can you clarify what you mean about being beholden to KDP Select?

Here's the link to my channel and the trailer video. Also just friend requested you! ;)

Lesley Jackson (thesweetromancelibrary) | 8 comments Fantastic! I subscribed and hit the bell! As for the last part of my comment, I am finding restrictions with the book I enrolled in Select that was supposed to be my “marketing” novel.

K. Ross (author_kross) | 6 comments Thanks for the follow!! :D

Hmm...what kind of restrictions?

message 9: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Jackson (thesweetromancelibrary) | 8 comments For instance, if you enroll in Kindle Select you break Amazon policy if you also list your book on another platform. This is not the case with regular ole Kindle. Maybe I'm just overthinking it, because clearly even reading the whole book on YouTube is not the same as making it available for sale on Kindle Select. Still, I have some books on Select and some not. I truly like Select for my Kindle Unlimited fans.

K. Ross (author_kross) | 6 comments Good to make sure of these things! From what I have read, Kindle Select is just in reference to the ebook format - you can't sell that or make it available for free on any other platforms or websites. But it does not limit you from selling the paperback, printed, audio of visual versions anywhere else.
Here's the link:

https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/top...

And here's the quote from that page: "During the 90-day enrollment period, the Kindle eBook can only be distributed through KDP. However, you can continue to distribute print, video, audio, or other formats of your title elsewhere. See the KDP Terms and Conditions for more information."

So no worries! You too can have fun on video...if you so choose :D

Lesley Jackson (thesweetromancelibrary) | 8 comments Perfectly helpful. I'm testing feeding Kindle some good short ebooks now for the reach and enrolling in KDP for further reach. It is also more flexible. I'm still at the experimentation phase. I just want to write and reach tons of people with my mission. THANK YOU so much for your research insight.

And I am definitely looking forward to having fun on video. Checking out INSTAGRAM now. I am so far behind on all things social media. LOL.
