I'm over halfway and having loads of fun. Of course I left my notes upstairs again, but will go grab them in a bit.

Ok, out of all the possible, wonderful "gifts" you can give a person, the guy get "regular bowels"!? Not even guaranteed healthy ones, just regular.

Also, Roland seems to be aging very rapidly now. I must admit, I know the feeling!

Loved it! Probably my favourite of the series so far.

I think they keep getting better too. I have high hopes for this one.

I'm almost done with this one, and I think it's close to even between the two. sort of 😆

So, I'm generally not a fan of author self-insertion. The reference to himself in the previous book would normally have been more than enough of that for me (though I always quite enjoyed Clive Cussler's cameos in his Dirk Pitt books!).
But after some initial annoyance at the fact that he was really going there with this one, I actually rather got into the whole meta-ness of it, and found his having the nerve to basically style himself a God to be quite entertaining.
All that was ok. The final chapter however? Freaking genius! I mean seriously. First you wonder if that was the end of the book, and this is just King's notes concerning the Dark Tower over the years, but then the little things start creeping in and you realise you're still in the book.
Also, the fact that he then killed himself off had something poetic about it, I thought. (hide spoiler)]


Oh, and the bit with the "lemons"? Priceless!

I'm only about two hours in. I keep getting interrupted. I am loving it so far.
Wondering what I would think of my state of mind if I saw a woman appear out of nowhere and then grow legs. i would probably wonder if I was having a breakdown.

I will keep from clicking on the spoiler tag until I finish as well. It will likely be tomorrow.

Can I just say, the thing that almost had me crying at the beginning was Oy.

I know! I love Oy.

There are certainly some moments in this book!

Those poor Lemons. All of them jumping off a cliff just because of peer pressure.

I was very glad that I wasn't drinking when reading that bit, as I would have spit coffee all over someone's art work.

I was prepping for dinner. had to put the knife down as I like having fingers 😆

(view spoiler)[I agree with your assessment of King being in the book. At first I was just laughing about it, but when they started talking about the weirdness occurring only after he moved into town, it became clear that it went beyond the mere silly ego rub. I liked it. (hide spoiler)]

The next book is the last book, yes? Wait for next month to see if it fits? Not sure I want to wait, but I have a ton more to read in planned books as well.

Also, I can't remember the name of the neighbor in Pet Sematary, but was that the same guy somehow? The one who said Ayuh a lot?

Well, it's Maine, so they all say Ayuh a lot, apparently 😆 But either way, I'm so terrible with names I forget my own at times, so no chance remembering characters from a book I last read years ago!

Yeah, I think we should squeeze the last one in next month if we can. It's a chunky one again, so all those lovely page points we could be gathering 😆
Although there are a few shorts/novellas etc. dotted around the series as well.

(view spoiler)[So, I was listening/reading and there were mentions of Stephen King here and there and I thought it was kind of like when he has a movie that he gets a cameo spot. But then it kept getting more and more and I too was a little annoyed, but then BAM! it took off and in a good way! He sort of bashed himself for smoking and drinking and not being a writer of any importance - I thought that was quite humorous. Then all the talk about how the neighbors didn't talk to him about the weird things, because they thought he caused them. It was all pretty good. But, who the hell has the nerve to kill themselves off in their own novel!?!?!

I'm thinking because of the last chapter, this might be my favorite of the series. That was just too good.

I'm on board for reading the last one next month! It will probably take me longer, that the two of you, so maybe I'll try to start earlier - it's a long one!
