Sabotages and Boosts
* Each sabotage or boost can only be used once.
* Sabotaging is optional. It is not mandatory.
* No sabotages on Week 10.
* Only 1 sabotage will be effective for a receiving team each week. (In other words, if Teams 2, 3 and 7 all send a sabotage to Team 5, only 1 will be in effect. The first sabotage submitted for a specific team in the sabotaging team's weekly Completion Post will be accepted. You will lose your sabotage even if it doesn't affect a team.)
Flat Tire - this sabotage will limit 1 player on a team to read for 2 tasks

Rain Delay - this sabotage prevents 1 player from beginning to read on Wednesday; that player cannot begin reading until Friday

High Octane Fuel - this boost allows 2 players to read for a 4th task

Guest Driver - this boost adds a player to your team for 1 week (in other words, a player can read a 2nd book for up to 3 more tasks)

First of all, pick a name for your team, group, or squad.
Second, decide who will keep track of the team's claimed and completed tasks. It can be on a spreadsheet or here in a post.
Third, decide who will make the team's Completion Posts. (It can be one person, or you can take turns. The team's Completion Post can be posted as soon as everyone has reported. The latest the team Completion Post can be posted is Tuesday morning.)
Fourth, decide what strategy or method your team will use to read for the tasks.
Last of all, check your engine and tires, gather your crew (check out library books and charge your devices), purchase fuel (snacks and soda), and get ready for a great race!

That one is my choice as well...anyone good with Spreadsheets?
I don't mind being in rotation for completion posts....I will be on vacation first week of May and then May 16 to 19 with limited internet access
Hi all! 👋 I'm good with Turbo Page Turners as well. I'm not a good candidate to help keep us organized. I mess up Spreadsheets without even trying to. I could try and help with posting completions but my work schedule may interfere some so if anyone else wants the job that would be great.
Unfortunately, I am unable to captain either, I have a series of dental surgeries scheduled through April / May, reading is fine as I suspect audiobooks will be my salvation.
I can captain. It will be my first time but I will give it a shot. Any ideas on strategy or how we want to read?

Thanks Sharon, very much appreciated.
Yay Sharon. Thank you for volunteering! Much appreciated. As far as strategy.... I'm not sure since this is all new to me but maybe let's discuss what tasks might be problematic to each of us. What might be a no-go for me might be someone else's go-to.I'll look through the tasks and list out what I'll personally struggle with. We can each chime in with ones we would happily read for in response and ones we'd "take one for the team" on. For me, just an FYI, I struggle to complete a book I'm not enjoying. So taking one for the team backfires almost every time on me but I know some teammates might not have this issue.
SABOTAGE....
I thought we might want to chime in individually and say if reading an extra book would be easy-peasy or a no-go. In addition, if starting a book on Friday, rather than Wednesday midnight, would be too difficult to complete.
I thought my post was getting too long so I'm breaking my ramblings up into a couple separate posts. For me, I'm a mood reader. So I'm often reading things on a whim but should know either Monday or Tuesday one or two books I'll be reading for the week and what Categories/Tasks each book would work for.
For example... in April I've committed to another Team Challenge that I'll read....
Funny Story by Emily Henry
Numbers....Published 4/23/2024 *tasks 4 and 20
Letters....E, H, and F
Tags...Fiction, Romance, standalone, re-read, audiobook(s), favourite, library, tbr, dnf, 5 star, 4 star, 3 star, 2024, own
Settings.... none that seem to work
Scavenger Words....Dreaded, drain, field, grease, hint, instrument, lock, orange, stalled
I listen to a lot of audiobooks so the Scavenger Words will be harder for me and if we need to provide page#s even worse.
I'll struggle with the following....
Settings (must be at least 50% of the story)
Africa, Central or South America, mainland Europe,
a Mediterranean country, on a farm, on a small island, at a school, on or in a vehicle, 1925 or earlier, in the future, very near to where you live (I live in Iowa.... there are almost no books set here.)
For Tags.... I'll struggle with YA, classic, and history.
The rest should be no problem for me.
Christina T wrote: "Do you want to plan or maybe make our first couple of weeks a free for all and then Re-evaluate?"That works for me.
I am all for people saying what problems they will have because I don't mind reading whatever. Like YA is never a problem for me same with history. I will stomach a classic if I must lol
Thanks Sharon for being Captain....Ive asked for access to the SS...I am a moody reader as well....I dont really plan out my books I just grab and read for the challenge....
my least favorite genre is romance...
I can easily read 2 books a week but I read most of my books for the week on my days off which are Thursdays and Fridays. Starting a book on Friday night is doable for me but it will be close on finishing on time since I can no longer read at work.
Christina T wrote: "Rosina....my favorite genre is Romance so you don't have to read one! 😉"Thank you.....i dont mind PNR ....im more a UF gal
I am a mood reader too and a sucker for buddy reads so I can never make a TBR that I follow through lol.I am going to focus on scavenger words first because I only read ebooks or physical books. I figure it may help out audiobook readers.
Feel free to just pick a book and stick it anywhere it works and you can totally do scavenger words too, I just figured I would focus there first since I feel like they can be the harder of the categories.
Okay, so I just checked the Q and A and it does say we can only read 1 book a week so only one book can count BUT one book can be used for up to 3 tasks!
If we are get a Boost that is when another book might come in.I'm planning on just reading whatever I want and I'll evaluate the books I start after midnight on Wednesday until the due day and see which one would work best for the team.

Sounds good :)
I also read the Q&A all 3 tasks can be from same category....this is helpful if we want to get the scavenger words done first...

Book and Author: A Honeybun and Coffee by Sam Cheever
Pages: 300
Date Read: April 12
Task: Numbers - 8
How It Fits: published in 2008
2nd Task: Tags - Mystery
How It Fits: 27 tags for Mystery
3rd Task: Scavenger - stall
How It Fits: Loc 19 - Surprised into hiding in a men's room stall at work
I am reading Capture the Sun space opera It works for:
2023, dnf, own, library,
# 3
C, J and M
Space / different planet
Orange and legend.
Just pick space and any two others?
So it seems that the locations are going to be most problematic. School and vehicle in particular, although there are a lot of YA pnr academy books, which I guess qualifies as School.
Partridge, railroad and bowtie may be the scarcest words.
I can read the next Lizzie grace next week, a series which is set in Australia, but not sure if it qualifies as very near where you live, as it is set more than 2 days drive away in another state.
Just had a thought for vehicle, unless someone has another idea, I could probably find another space book set on a spaceship.
i think academy works for school....it is a place of learning...I will do a search on my kindle for the scavenger words....
I think I have found a spaceship book for vehicle, Dark Horse so at this stage that's my week 3 book.
I just remembered Illuminae takes place on a spaceship.....its a YA quick read....definitely a different style ....have you read it?
I need to let you know that I have adjusted a few of the Tags tasks. Star can now be plural if you'd like to use it that way. i.e., 5 star(s), 4 star(s), 3 star(s)
Rosina wrote: "I just remembered Illuminae takes place on a spaceship.....its a YA quick read....definitely a different style ....have you read it?"Thanks Rosina, I will definitely keep that in mind if this one doesn't pan out.
Also, I am happy to read, a classic if you are of the same mind as Sharon and Christina.
Excellent, so I will take, Classic, Australian / opal, vehicle, and I also have a farm book being released Tuesday, so that's 4 weeks from me.
