Three Days in June by Anne Tyler - 4* - My Review

Three Days in June is a poignant character-driven story set in present-day Baltimore. It features a divorced couple who reunite for their daughter’s wedding. Gail is a perfectionist with strict schedules and rules for life. Max, who now lives in Delaware, is free-spirited and spontaneous. He brings along an older plump rescue cat and must stay with his ex-wife since his future son-in-law is allergic.

This is a slim novel, which takes place over three days - the day before, day of, and day after the wedding. It is humorous in many places and written in Tyler’s usual accomplished prose. It is told in first person from Gail’s perspective, and the reader will realize before Gail a few changes she could make to improve her life. Themes include forgiveness, acceptance, and how we sometimes sabotage our own happiness. Anne Tyler’s books tend to be hit or miss with me, and this one is definitely a hit.

I've never read any of Anne Tyler's novels, but after reading your review I may give this one a try. I'm always on the lookout for new authors and given the length, this may be a good place to start. Thanks!
