Oh the toxic fanboys are gonna hate this one! 😹😹😹

A new season and a new mystery. This was a lot of fun. Very fast paced. Lots to get through in a short amount of time. So it’s a real roller coaster. But I’m liking Belinda Chandra already (more so than Ruby Sunday). Interestingly, we’ve gone from Rose to Martha to Donna when the series was rebooted, and now we’ve got Ruby to Belinda … wondering what’s next. But Rose and Ruby had similarities in that they were very average ordinary people, at least on the surface. And now both Martha and Belinda are strong women with medical backgrounds. Very interesting 🤔

Yeah, that was a lot of fun! I think I’m going to like Belinda. She hit the nail on the head when she told the Doctor, “You’re dangerous.” I like it when the companions give some pushback.

The good: Like Belinda, very nice design, the world building was decent, and Ncuti is still a ball of energy.

The not so good: oh look, another %^! ing mystery box girl.
No chairs in the console room. Did you even watch the Christmas special, Russell?
That ugly tartan jacket. He'd have been better off wearing Colin's coat.
They left the roomba robot behind.
The Doctor Who cries is wearing thin.
Almost as annoying as Tennant's 'I'm so sorry'

Glad the show is back, we're off to an interesting start, but I can't shake the feeling that RTD is still more concerned with being clever than the writing making sense.

Wait and see

Enjoyable, high energy and miles above the babies on a spaceship as far as the story goes. I like the more sensitive approach to the Doctor, though it could go too far if they're not careful.

Looking forward to the next episode.

I know. I loved that moment when she said he was dangerous.

While I did enjoy the silliness of the Space Babies, this was definitely better as a season launch episode. But there was a LOT going on and a lot being set. Still tons of fun.

While I like seeing a companion who just wants to get home, I have mixed feelings about RTD going through a trilogy to put the Doctor through 'therapy' and get his act together, hinting at a 'the Doctor might not be a good person' arc.

Was really hoping post-specials we were done with that angsty crap.

I totally expected to see a chair in the console room as well and was disappointed the Doctor hadn’t picked one up by now. What gives, RTD?

I didn’t necessarily see the dangerous comment as hinting at the Doctor being bad, but more that the Doctor is reckless. Hopefully, after Capaldi’s (my favorite Doctor!) story arc, that whole question has been laid to rest for good.

I am a little tired of the Doctor crying all the time now though. That really should be used sparingly for more impact.

I saw the dangerous comment as reckless as well.
And Elizabeth, I agree: in so many ways Capaldi is my favorite Doctor. I just wish more his stories had been stronger and Clara was probably my least favorite companion of the New Who era. So that hurts. If I have to pick, I’ll still go with Tennant though. Series Four with Donna Noble is hands down my favorite season. But Gatwa is making great strides toward a favorite for me.

As for the whole crying thing, yeah I get what you’re saying, but I’m seeing that this Doctor has a fragility about him that the others haven’t had. Haven’t gone through the Time War, lost Gallifrey, regained Gallifrey and then lost it again, discovering that he’s not actually from Gallifrey. This is a Doctor who is vulnerable in unexpected ways. Unexpected even to himself. I’m loving the ways it is being portrayed, I just wish the seasons were longer.

There were a couple wide shots and no chairs.
Between that and passing on getting a roomba for the Tardis, I'm disappointed.

No problems with Ncuti. Love his energy and he's got charm to spare.
But, I'm easy. I love them all.
Tom is in first place, with an 18 way tie for second.

Maybe The Doctor puts them in, but the TARDIS decides to leave them behind.

Yeah, I love them all, Doctors and companions. I’d probably say the same thing about Capaldi. 🥰

And yes, Rick, the seasons are TOO short!
