Algernon (Darth Anyan) | 611 comments I think I'll search for a spicy novel with strong but mentally unstable heroines. Cover all the bases, so to speak

Haha, a Sarah Maas book might fit those criteria.

I have just received a poke on an old review, for Possession. This is the novel I was thinking of when I mentioned it fits all criteria: Victorian adultery between two poets. She is a feminist icon but she goes crazy [allegedly]

The Kiss Quotient fills the bill.

That being said, two of the choices, I will be fine with, but have a clear favorite. I looked over the first 5 pages of all & will do a little more in depth search and perhaps find the book that I really want to read.

One of my all-time favorite books!

Robin P | 6057 comments Strong women can include biography, memoir, history, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, classics - just about every genre.

Rachel N. | 2269 comments When I saw the choices the first thing I thought was that we have done strong women and mental health before so I went to look. We have back in 2018 and 2021. I think I've been in the group too long, LOL. They were both tags in steeplechase last year too. Haven't decided how I'm voting but I like Algernon's idea.

Though it's a pretty funny combo. Thanks, @Algernon, for the laugh.

Karin | 9362 comments This month the choice was "easy-peasy" for me.

message 16: by Amy (new)

Amy | 13110 comments I decidedly would not be drawn to mental health in the least, however there were many books I really loved on that list. I did actually have a number of repeats for the three... I have somethin for each. Voting right now.

Perfect! lol

By the way, who shelves the books for the choices? Are we allowed to add to the lists? Thanks!

message 18: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12854 comments Arielle, you do not have to read from the list. For the Monthly Tag there are no rules, per se. If you think a book fits, you can use it in the monthly tag reviews.

The lists are compiled by Goodreads readers and the Tags that they use. The only way to get a book on these lists is for you to tag it in your personal TBR

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11286 comments I could go for a Maisie Dobbs book, now that she’s getting involved more in espionage. She’s a psychologist so her books fit both tags.

There is some overlap between strong women and mental health, since both categories often involve resilient women. Mental health has books about men too of course. These are very easy for me, but not particularly new or exciting. I’ll probably decide based on the books on my upcoming holds and priority lists.

Strong women is almost too easy if you don’t need it to already have the tags. Last month we had strong women as a bonus tag for compass, and many of the books I thought would fit didn’t have 5+ tags. But that won’t matter for other challenges.

Mental health has a much longer list, and a genre page with a lot of features I like. (Such as the “most read this week” list and new releases. I’m not in the mood for the heavier mental illness topics, but mental health has become much more mainstream.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11286 comments I’m glad we’ll get the results soon. Today I started 3 books that I probably won’t finish. When this happens, planning for a new tag tends to get me thinking in a new direction, it’s like a reset. I even have a spicy series in mind, just in case.
