The book is an inspiring story about the efforts and challenges encountered by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha and a team of researchers, community leaders, and members as they intervened when the children of Flint, Michigan, were exposed to lead in their tap water supply.

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha is a pediatrician and public health advocate who played a pivotal role in exposing the Flint water crisis. She was born in Sheffield, England, to an Iraqi immigrant family that had to flee their home country due to dangerous political conditions. Her background as an immigrant and her experiences with adversity gave her a strong drive to help others, particularly the children in Flint, who were at risk from the contaminated water.
