If you've ever done text-based RPing here, it's like that, but we use dice to randomize things and to determine the outcomes of certain actions.

In one of my in person groups, the party's favorite NPC is Hopi, the sad, alcoholic jester I introduced as a joke. His whole thing is that people think he's funny because he just isn't. (He lost his soul and therefore his sense of humor.)

My best characters tend to be kind of morbid. When we did a Witchlight one-shot for Halloween, I played Yorrick the skeleton bard who got stuck at the festival until he died. An element of Witchlight is that you have to give up something or have lost something in your backstory. His was his sense of direction, so he couldn't find the afterlife. He was aware of his death, but completely unphased. He'd constantly say stuff like, "I'm the life of the party!" He also sounded like Skeletor from He-man.

Omg in my current campaign we found this walking castle, and in it were 2 tiefling guard dudes. I could tell we were either supposed to knock them out or fight them, but NO, the lawful good paladin convinces them to CHANGE ALLEGIANCES and WORK FOR OUR PARTY as HYPE GUYS.
....we all love Stefan and Francis.

Oh yeah we've basically just befriended all the NPCs...
Zathir drives the castle; we straight up convinced four of them to move from one side of the gate town wheel to the other, (Automata to Chaos) and we played baseball with a group of demons and celestials.

Larry and Jerry were the two idiots guarding the city where my party took down a cult leader. They're now helping the party convince the towsfolk to vote one of the party members in as mayor. They had no idea I was already planning to have the Mayor of Townsville (Powerpuff Girls) trying to get reelected (in three months, in game time.) after they left.

Also had to introduce Sam the Eagle from the Muppets as an aaracokra, because patriotism!

Yes! Both solid classes! I've always had the most fun at tables where everyone isn't trying to min-max their characters to do the most damage and actually engage in the roleplay aspect.

Love me a good artificer, them and barbarians are my main classes; I get the annoying power-building thing, I've got 2 of em and they both are like "you're not doing blah blah blah or this other thing no one cares about to make your character as OP as possible! And you're stupid because of that!"

It's how I accidentally had a Paladin with strength as a dump stat. He had an evil (not really, but it's easier to explain it that way) alter ego/split personality who thought he was a weak loser scrawny nerd. Fun stuff.

LOLL I always use Wisdom as my dump stat bc when rolling for hit points I like a high Con modifier

I put the number in the wrong box and didnt reakize it until too late. It informed my character and was way more interesting, so I kept it. He got a Cloak of the Bat at some point, so I got to be Batman.
