by Andrew Lam tells good slice-of-life stories about being Vietnamese and gay.
Here's one: a really good, really timely non-fiction book from Netgalley reviewed today:Deep House: The Gayest Love Story Ever Told
by Jeremy Atherton Linhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Not a romance, or even a romantic book, but historical queerness investigated in Lightborne
by Hesse Phillips:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I just read Marguerite Yourcenar's "Alexis or the Treatise on Useless Combat," but I recommend "The Vampire of Colonia Roma" by Luis Zapata.
I waited too long to read this one. Mislaid
by Nell Zink might've worked for 2015 me....https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Tash Aw's latest book, The South
, filled with the longing of first gay love, is out now:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I don't think a lot of y'all will read a gay man's memoir of life under the theocracy in Iran. You should, because it's where this fascist nightmare in the US is headed unless you resist it. The Ayatollah's Gaze: A Memoir of the Forbidden and the Fabulous
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Milena and Margarete: A Love Story in Ravensbrück
by Gwen Strauss tells what happens when Love dare not speak its name.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Unfortunately, you don't speak German, so you couldn't share my delight in the late Berlin poet Detlev Meyer.I found a website where you can both hear ten of his texts read and read the (German) texts: lyrikline.org
Search for "Detlev Meyer" there.
For those of you who might speak Russian, there are four Russian translations available.
About Meyer: He was a narcissist, loved classic German poetry and humor. The texts are easy to understand and have punch lines.
My recommendation: "Der Mann der Grachten“ (The Man of the Canals, that is: in Amsterdam)
„Korrekte Anmache“ is a good overview book to his poetical body of work. Männerschwarm Verlag Hamburg. 2004. 15,50 €. 70 p
