Welcome to Derry
I think HBO will do it justice. The only reason that I would be worried I feel like they rushed Salem’s lot when they redid the movie, however, they do a really good job when it comes to show series. I am personally looking forward to it.
I’m excited for this show. I’d like to see how It’s influence infects the town of Derry over the years. We saw glimpses of it being done in the films and miniseries, but having a whole show about it would be interesting. Also Bill Skarsgard returning as Pennywise!! Nuff said 😁
This is perfect timing as I’m currently reading It! I’m 630 pages in currently and plan to have it finished by next week! I’m so excited for this series
Trying not to get too exited by Welcome To Derry. We don’t have Max (or whatever they’ve renamed it to) in the UK. We get the HBO stuff instantly via Sky but not the Max stuff. So no idea when it will be on over here
I am interested in the timeline. The first season takes place a couple of years after IT was active... and the production info shows timelines similarly within 3-5 years of his known activity. I am very curious how that is handled.

Either one works for me. It's just that I laughed at first and thought, that's funny and so real and then I was like, wait a minute... lol
It’s 27 years between each season. The first takes place in 1962, the second 1935 and the third in 1908. Each of them are separate IT cycles.

They have officially announced a release date finallyRelease. It: Welcome to Derry is scheduled to premiere on HBO on October 26, 2025, with subsequent episodes airing weekly for the first season. It was previously slated to stream exclusively on HBO Max.

Really good so far!! I went ahead and watched the 2nd episode since they released it on Halloween.
I have watched and loved every Stephen King inspired production. Until now….Im going to finish this because that is what true fans do. But so far, I don’t love it. The baby was worse than horror movies I have seen that were produced in the 50’s.
Probably going to wait until the whole season is out, because I already have too many subscriptions going on, but I'm looking forward to it!

I feel like they over killed haha with the horror it became to much and I was like oh come on I get they trying to out do one another with who can do a Stephen king book screenplay better but come on. I decided not to watch episode two instead I decided to watch the remake of IT and I did not like it at all the plot was so off. anyway one part I did enjoy was when the old lady in part two of the IT movie came out stomping and was gigantic I was driving at night and my sound system was like here be scared 😱 lol.

When it was first announced I thought why? but I decided to watch last night, and it far exceeded my expectations now I'm looking forward to the rest of it.
I really wanna watch it but I think it might be too graphic for me. Is it like the movies or even more disturbing?
I actually really like it. There's absolutely TONS of IT Easter Eggs and the show is going back 27 years each season. We're gonna get to see so many of the main tragedies that the Losers Club discusses in the book/films. I also think its amazing that they're incorporating Dick Halloran. I think King books are hard to put to screen in general and you can't make everyone happy. I enjoy it!
@brittanywynatt it’s a common problem for book readers to be disappointed in their books that go to screen. There has to be SOME leniency in allowing the producers, director and actors to tell the story their way. Content wise it’s a budgetary impossibility for a studio to translate the books to screen. People need to cast aside their expectations from the book format or they will always hate on the film versions. That said, I felt the attempt of The Dark Tower was a complete fail trying to squash everything into one movie. Other King products have been much better.
Sorry, I'm not on a computer, can't "reply" but yes! Absolutely. I also truly think *almost* no King book should be a movie, but rather a show to truly capture alllll the detail. Or at least a movie series anyway. But when they're put into one movie its usually a bit of a let down. I'm both a reader and a fan of the shows/movies - but yea I keep those expectations of it not translating 100% - which is what most ppl don't do. Also, if you think a book is the greatest thing you've ever read then you DEF shouldn't watch anything converted to screen bc you'll hate it 🤣
Accurate! Nothing bugs me more than readers who goIn thinking EVERY detail in the book will show up in the movie or series. That has to be room for adaptation.
Really besides all the other SK stuff that’s gone to screen The Dark Tower got me ‘hot’ that said I loved The Shining and Doctor Sleep immensely.
I'm actually a big fan of the Shining, but thats maybe bc I watched the movie wayyy before I ever read the book. The book is fabulous & I see why King & others hated the movie adaptation but, I can see them for what each are. I stand by The Shining being one of the best movies ever lol that pisses some ppl off but oh well. Anyway - its no surprise that there's hate for Welcome To Derry. But I'm appreciative of a new IT storyline & all the fun Easter Eggs/Lore we're gonna get with it.
Busy with my first read of IT, about 18% complete. Finally got to this one, which I’ve been putting off for years (for some inexplicable reason) but now with Welcome to Derry, I want to get the source material in before watching. Hope it’s good.
I feel like something has been super amiss with the series and I can't quite put a finger on it but it just feels mildly off. I am, however, stoked about Dick Hallorann being added into this and that is a super cool connection!
Loving the series, especially how they're connecting the dots on some very famous characters from other SK's novels. I read the book several years ago and it's one of my favorite ones, of course.
I finally started and binge-watched Welcome to Derry, and have been loving every moment of it. It is brilliantly done, especially leading to the big reveal of finally seeing Pennywise! LoL I think we're in for a treat here.
Yes this is a really good show, it kinda started off a bit slow but now its getting a lot better. My wife and I have really enjoyed the show from the beginning
