WEEKLY CHECK-IN
June 4, 2025 -- Week 23

It's June! Can you believe it? This year (and this challenge) is flying by.

Today, tell us about your bookish / reading goals for this month. What are you hoping to read/accomplish?

Kathi | 177 comments I have one book I need to read by the end of the month (Boy's Life by Robert McCammon) for a different challenge (and I’ll probably use it for one of our prompts, too).

Other than that, I have a few books along with me on this trip I’m on, so I’m sure I’ll read more in airports & on airplanes. I’m still ahead of schedule for my overall reading goal, so I’m not stressing about it.

Ashtyn | 41 comments I'm hoping to read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy for the first time. I've put it off for years because high fantasy is difficult for me to follow, but I'm hoping the Andy Serkis audiobooks help out. I'm also hopefully going to get through Pride and Prejudice for the first time, as well.

Pride and Prejudice was a fun reread - my perspective has definitely changed since I first read it.

La Nomada (lanomada) | 2 comments Hello Everyone I'm Nomada

I've been doing this challenge for a while now. Basicall,y since the beginning of the year actually and I just found this group chat so I was hoping to join the discussion.

This month I'm hoping to eliminate the pun challenge. My Storygraph app suggested 'When Live Gives You Legends,' which sounds fun, but I will most likely opt for a romance because I have a couple of heavy hitters on my list for other book clubs I'm in. 'The Poppy War' and 'The Master and Margarita'.

Stephanie E. Bell | 13 comments I just finished A Talent for Murder by Peter Swanson. My next read is Born A Crime by Trevor Noah. I also want to read my BOTM selection Next to Heaven...

message 7: by Hilde (new)

Hilde Helseth | 228 comments I just finished Red Herrings and White Elephants by Albert Jack yesterday, and I am currently reading Skogens menn - minner og myter om hoggere og fløtere by Ingar Kaldal for prompt #37 Genre chosen for you by someone else. I knew of the book, but had not originally intended to read it until a neighbour asked me about a book about lumberjacks and the Scandinavian Forest Industry. They had it at our local library, but he wanted his own copy, and I found at a sale shortly after. I had read 80 pages before I checked to see if it fitted a prompt.

The other book I am currently reading is En kort introduksjon til Sovjetunionen by Kåre Johan Mjør, and it is a library book which is due after Lent on the 10th.

I have planed to read 3 more books in June so far:
Spekemat by Astri Riddervold - bibsok.no/?tnr=1442424, not in the base yet - another library book due on the 17th
10 Inventors Who Changed the World by Clive Gifford that I got from WoB after reading the 3 others in the series that I got in Norwegian translations from my local library
and
Grendel by John Gardner for prompt #21 Character's name in the title. I remembered having this book after read online that it was to be a movie.

Adrienne | 124 comments For June I seem to have an "old book theme"... currently reading The Red Badge of Courage and listening to Journey to the Center of the Earth. Next up is hopefully Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage.
One new book that I want to read next is When the Moon Hits Your Eye because my hold from the library should arrive soon.
