Welcome to the fresh new edition of our beloved “What Are You Currently Reading?” thread—now monthly, to keep things breezy and easy to follow!

Whether you're:
🌊 Reading on a beach towel
📦 Sneaking in a chapter between chaos
📖 Starting a summer re-read spree
👀 Or just staring lovingly at your TBR stack…

This is your space to shout out what you're reading right now!

💬 Jump in with:
• What book you just started / just finished
• A quote that made you laugh, cry, or scream into the void
• A one-sentence review (or a rant, we support that too)
• How your July reads are treating you so far

✨ This thread will be open all month, and then we’ll start fresh again in August to keep things feeling tidy and current.

🆕 Bonus Fun: Don’t miss our other bookish convos:
Weekly Author Appreciation: A new author each week to gush (or grumble) about.
Monthly Theme Chat: July’s theme is Beach Reads & Sun-Soaked Stories 🏖️—perfect for this time of year!

Now—what’s on your nightstand, your Kindle, or your earbuds right now? Let’s hear it! 👇

JUST finished The Poppy War (The Poppy War, #1) by R.F. Kuang and it was so good, but some really heavy parts. I'm counting it as "what are you reading" because I had finished as I opened this post, lol. Debating on when to start book 2 because it's long and probably also heavy, but it's also really good to listen to at work where I'm trapped for 9 hours, so maybe tomorrow.

I don't know what I'm going to read tonight when I get into bed. I should consult the stars aka the Impossible Solar System challenge :D

This is on my TBR, and I made the (impulsive) decision to buy the reallllly pretty deluxe/collectors edition... which means I just bought the newest release of #2's matching copy...

And I still haven't read the first. I am a problem.

Apprentice to the Villain (Assistant to the Villain, #2) by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

I started Apprentice to the Villain last night, because I looked at the books I'm currently reading and just couldn't make myself pick them up. I needed something silly.

Other books I'm in the middle of:

The Odyssey by Homer Ulysses James Joyce's Groundbreaking Modernist Epic by James Joyce The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games, #0) by Suzanne Collins The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

Currently reading Down the Drain by Julia Fox . It's pretty depressing and I keep wanting to stop reading it but I also feel compelled to finish it. Her life is just really messed up and unstable, which contributes to some anxiety for me.

I'm also reading an old favorite that I think I last read 10 years ago. Born in Ice (Born In Trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts Will be following it up with the finale of the trilogy: Born in Shame (Born In Trilogy, #3) by Nora Roberts

I'm listening to Dirty Thirty (Stephanie Plum, #30) by Janet Evanovich because I always enjoy this ridiculous series when I'm working and can't really focus on deeper stories.

Joke :) I'm reading Things We Left Behind (Knockemout, #3) by Lucy Score by Lucy Score.
I will still be reading this book in August and so far in, I like it.
