Winter (winter9) | 5003 comments Hi everyone!

Time to nominate books for September! The theme is Whimsy.

~Please remember to state a connection to the theme when you nominate.

~Books we have read less than three years ago are not eligible. To see which books are not eligble, see this google sheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

~ Each person can nominate 1 book.

~ Book must be available both as a physical copy and as an ebook.

~ Authors: Please do not nominate your own book.

~ Please do not nominate books that are part of a series, unless it is the first book.

~ You can second someone else's nomination, but that will count as your nomination.

This thread will be closed by July 25th, and we will choose ten books for the poll. If there are more than ten books nominated, we will choose "seconded" books first. If there is still a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go back to the Goodreads average rating to see which is highest.

Carolyn Saunders | 201 comments Good evening from Australia. I nominate The Courting of Bristol Keats.

The book is available as hard copy, digital copy, and audio copy.

The connection to whimsy is that the book has a whimsical setting and rich faerie lore.

This is the first book in a series. Book 2 is due for release in November and is called The Last Wish of Bristol Keats.

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4786 comments I nominate The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. According to this list, it has been shelved several times as 'whimsy' https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

message 4: by Valerie (new)

Valerie Reyes | 1167 comments I nominate Someone You Can Build a Nest In as it’s a whimsical tale of a monster in love.

D.L. | 1521 comments Borrowing the idea to pick a book from the same shelf mentioned above (whimsy) I would like to nominate Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman

juls ౨ৎ˖ ࣪⊹ | 70 comments i nominate Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater. i use the same shelf mentioned before.

Ankit Saxena | 34 comments I nominate Circe by Madeline Miller

message 8: by Susan, Games & Events (new)

Susan | 667 comments I nominate Wendy's Ever After. Wendy returns to Neverland...seems pretty whimsical to me.

message 9: by Rhi (new)

Rhi (rhi_) | 53 comments I would like to nominate This Princess Kills Monsters.

When I was researching possible books this one came up a lot as Whimsical. Apparently, this book is similar in vibe to The Princess Bride, which was my original idea for this prompt, expect that it has been read in the last three years. It only just came out in June so it seems to be available in all formats!

SarahKat | 6344 comments I will nominate The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making. It is also on the "whimsy" list. I just read it and it is indeed quite whimsical.

I’ll second this!

Sylvia Fey (sylviafey) | 33 comments I would like to nominate Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. When I think 'Whimsy', I think of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle in her upside-down house and the clever ways she taught children life lessons. I LOVED these books as a kid and even remember the tv series I used to watch.
