This is the year that Haymitch is chosen as one of the representatives from District 12 and must complete. Haymitch was a key character in the original books of the series, so his backstory told here is very interesting. His family and girl friend are included in the story, giving his history more depth. The dystopian world from the series still exits and the reader learns what made Haymitch who he turns into after he participates and wins the games.

While a tribute Haymitch was approached to help those who want to stand up to the Capitol. He has several allies, but few real instructions. In the stadium he works to get opportunities to assist the rebels. When the games are shown to the Capitol and Districts they are edited to relay the scenes that the Capitol wants seen; so Haymitch's attempts are unknown to the public. This changes the meaning of actions and enforces the Capitol's propaganda.

This book is a good addition to the Hunger Games. Haymitch's story was emotional and worth telling. I like how Collins adds in people who will show up again in the other books. Fans of the Hunger Games will enjoy Sunrise on the Reaping.
