Hi! Welcome to the Golden Hour Festival Reading Challenge!



What are challenges?

Participating in challenges is a great way to get to know fellow readers and motivate yourself to read more. The goal is to earn as many points as possible- ways to earn points are listed below! Challenges are as competitive as you want them to be.

TEAMS

There are two teams. Team 1 will be Pool Float Pirates and your team captain will be Yeehawwlovesbooks. Team 2 will be Beach Cliff Raiders and your team captain will be Ana.

START/FINISH DATE

This challenge starts on Friday, July 18th and ends on Saturday, August 30th. The winning team will be announced on Sunday, August 31st.

How fast do you read? (on a scale from 1-5, 5 being fastest)
How active are you planning to be? (on a scale from 1-5, 5 being most active, meaning logging all books you read, trying to complete prompts, etc.)

RULES

⚓️You can only repeat activity prompts 3 times per activity prompt. Book and writing prompts are unlimited.
⚓️Audio books count, graphic novels also count but they do need to be at least 100 pages.
⚓️DNF’ed books count but you must have read at least 100 pages.

⚓️Have fun!!

WAYS TO EARN POINTS

☀️You’ll earn points depending on how long the book you read is:

100-200 pages =+1 point
201-300 pages =+2 points
301-400 pages =+3 points
401-500 pages =+4 points
501-600 pages =+5 points
601 pages= +6 points

and so on…

☀️You’ll earn points depending on how long your review or writing prompt is (remember, both of these are optional):

Less than 50 words = +2 point
50-100 words = +3 point
101-150 words =+4 points
151-200 words = +5 points
201-250 words = +6 points
251-300 words = +7 points

and so on…

☀️Everyone will get to make points based on the star rating of the book. The points system is right here for that.

1 star ⭐- +1 point
2 stars ⭐- +2 points
3 stars ⭐- +3 points
4 stars ⭐- +4 points
5 stars ⭐- +5 points

☀️Complete prompts! Remember, you can only use activity prompts 3 times per prompt. Book and writing prompts are unlimited.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the winning team will get to choose the theme for the next challenge, you can add some book prompts, activity prompts, and fun writing prompts as well. All we ask is that you let us know the theme so the other team can choose their name.

Also the winning team will get to choose 1 book that everyone agrees on to add to September's BOTM. It will automatically go on the seconded list.

REMINDER

This reading challenge ends on Saturday, August 30th. You need to log your books by midnight on the 30th because the winning team will be announced on Sunday, August 31st.
