Yes, this was the point where I began to believe that someone had set Mark up to take the fall for the murders. Things just weren't adding up and it looked like a cover up.
I thought he was innocent early on. Things were beginning to add up wrong and it became more and more clear that Nikki had been drugged & really didn't know the truth. I was sure Mark was going to be found innocent. Her perceptions of that night were way too fuzzy and I thought I could see why she would think he was attacking her but my immediate thought was Maybe he was helping her.
I had already started to believe Mark was innocent, but the DA convinced me. Why was the toxicology report missing? That was a key piece of evidence. Someone wanted Mark convicted without further investigation. My head went right to the Sheriff.
I had doubts early on, but this made it clear that something was not on the up and up in this investigation.
Sharon, I was with you, especially thinking about the Sheriff, and that he was the one who withheld her tox screen results.
When the DA is nervous, there’s something “there” there. This was the moment when I felt certain something was wrong with that investigation. And, the Innocence Projects only take up cases with strong evidentiary matter or serious trial issues. The fact that they took on Mark’s case was a big deal for me.
