Welcome to August 2025

If you wish to have a buddy choose a book from your SBC bookshelf, please comment below with the amount of books you wish to have picked out for you.

I will pair you with your Buddy using Random.org.

Rules-ish:

You will need to create a bookshelf marked Stitcher’s bookclub TBR or SBC TBR on Goodreads. Put books on it that you can actually have access to read in August.

Tracey I have landed on this one because it a retelling of the little mermaid which is intriguing. I love a good mermaid story. Therefore I have chosen for you: A Magic Deep and Drowning by Hester Fox.

I really hope *fingers crossed* that this is a great read for you x

Thanks Sharon. That book was my book for last month but I couldn’t find the time to pick up the actual physical book. So glad it’s my pick for this month again, I get to have a second chance! I have to read 15 pages a day to finish it by end of august. Wish me luck!!

Tracey Allen at Carpe Librum (carpelibrum) | 1257 comments Hi Sharon, I've chosen Middlegame by Seanan McGuire for this month's buddy pick. I've had this on my TBR for quite a while so fingers crossed it's a great read for you!

Darn it, as much as I love the author’s writing, I’m going to have to DNF this. It bounces all over the place in time and POV and is not fun to read.

I’m reading another of her books, Chimes at Midnight, so I’ll count that for my buddy read.

Sorry to hear that Sharon, but at least it’s off your TBR now. Hope the other one you’ve chosen is better.

Sharon, thank you for picking this book. I'm not sure why I kept it on my TBR shelf for so long. What a fantastic book to read.

Sorry to hear that, Sharon. It is disappointing when you enjoy an author's books, only to have them produce a bad one.

I hope you enjoy Chimes at Midnight, Sharon.
