Neither of these two were on my radar, so it was a big surprise to me. I don't know what caused both of them to be this way. Were they already a bit unhinged and Bob's suicide tipped them over the edge? Who knows?
They weren't on my list until Nikki's last visit with Mindy. Her actions were suspicious and Nikki picked up on something wrong too late. I want to believe they were damaged, but deep down, I believe they were murderers waiting for their victims.
These two were not on my radar at all. I fell for Bobby's helpful; just a kid; wasn't into her act. I feel like Mindy came out of nowhere quite honestly as we didn't really see much of her for most of the book. Or I just don't remember here. @Robin - good point that her husband's suicide could've pushed her over the edge and tired of John always getting everything.
I didn't see this coming I had ruled Bobby out and never suspected Mindy. This is a good plot twist and looking back there is some (albeit not much) foreshadowing for it.
Yes, Robert Sr's suicide does seem to have pushed Mindy over the edge, and her attitude toward John also influenced Bobby.
That said, this is not an excuse for either one's behavior. I think that left to his own devices, Bobby would have turned himself in and perhaps even called 911 to save Madison. Mindy is the most culpable. She knew Madison was still alive and killed Janelle.
I wasn't even convinced that Bob Sr committed suicide. So Bobby didn't seem guilty, and his mom was not on my radar until too late.
Bobby caught me flatfooted! Never suspected him. But Mindy? Something felt off about her from the onset. I think her husband’s suicide just unleashed some crazy that was already there.
