Teddie (teddieg) | 1108 comments Hi Heather - I can read this anytime this month - do you have a preference?

Heather | 200 comments I'm starting it now! 💙🏔

Heather | 200 comments I'm currently in the middle of chapter 8 and it's pretty much non-stop action. It almost reads more like a screenplay than a book. Whew! 😅

Teddie (teddieg) | 1108 comments I'm listening to it now - the narrator's american accent is killing me - lol. But onward! :)

Heather | 200 comments Yes! And even though he seems to be British, his Yorkshire accent for Chase is odd as well.

Heather | 200 comments Checking in @ 51%/chapter 16. It's certainly a mash-up of a bunch of action-adventure/treasure hunting movies. I'm enjoying it, but you definitely need to sit back, suspend your disbelief, and just let it wash over you.

Teddie (teddieg) | 1108 comments Yes :D I finally decided to think of the narrator as a favorite old uncle who was trying his best to bring the story to life, and not focusing too much on the various accents and the way they kind of overlap a bit during dialog. I do like his non-dialog narration though.

Funny, I read another book recently that took place in the Amazon and had killer lost tribes (Amazonia.)

I'm enjoying the story enough - very Lara Croft - but wish it had a bit more real history / science / character development.

Heather | 200 comments A favorite old uncle is the perfect way to think of him!

Lara Croft for sure. And I'm afraid the author sacrificed depth for constant action.

Teddie (teddieg) | 1108 comments Ok, I finished. Let mw know when you're done and we won't need to worry about spoilers :)

Heather | 200 comments I'm done too!

Heather | 200 comments I'm going to try to take the time to write a review either today or tomorrow. I'm finding that it's a lot more difficult to write a 200 word review if I wait too long.

Heather | 200 comments My review is done... yay!

Teddie (teddieg) | 1108 comments Sorry I missed your replies!!

I will do a review for this one this month - I don't know whether it was the audiobook format or what, but I didn't love - or really hate - this one. While the action was fun, I feel like the characters were just plot props. I guess this feeling is underscored after just finishing Golden Son - which has amazing action and characters with depth, and flaws, and so much.
