A Baffling Series of Events Leads to An Unsettling Conclusion…

The First Family is hosting their first Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House when Secret Service agents mobilize to hustle them to safety. First Lady Samantha Cappuano wants to know where her children have been taken while President Nick Cappuano mobilizes his team to learn more about the threat that caused such a dramatic response.

Meanwhile, Sam’s homicide detectives at the Metropolitan Police Department are in the earliest stages of investigating three new murders of people struck down for no apparent reason as IT Lieutenant Archelotta cares for a new friend who was similarly attacked. One by one, the clues begin to add up to a disturbing conclusion that has Sam racing to put the pieces together before it’s too late. Adding to the chaos, she’s now accompanied by a much larger Secret Service detail.

As if that wasn’t enough for one week, a troubling incident from the past resurfaces and has Sam on defense, defending her career and reputation from a ruthless attack. An aura of retribution is in the air, but who’s behind it, and could the perpetrator be someone she—or Nick—have tangled with in the past?

Sam, Nick and the First Family cast face one vexing challenge after another, leading up to an explosive showdown that could change everything.

So much going on already. I knew she shouldn't go into that meeting about Lieutenant Stahl...He tried to kill her twice! And she fainted which was no surprise.

Now this thing with Archie. I hope this woman is who he thinks she is. I would hate to see him hurt.

I haven't started Karen, but I will. Its a busy couple of days. After work last night we went to a fundraiser for my daughter ( she has endiometrioes - and going to New York for out of country surgery) and this morning we are packing up to go camping. Tomorrow is my great aunt funerals. Its good to be busy... sometimes doesn't lend well to reading.
I will catch up!!

Don’t worry about it. Hope your daughter’s surgery goes well. This weekend is pretty busy for me too. Our anniversary is today and oldest son’s birthday is Tuesday so not much time for reading either. Sorry about your Great Aunt. Hope you can get some relaxing time and enjoy some of the weekend.

Thanks. If you can believe this...56 years! We're just going to have a nice dinner at home today and when our son, Ron, returns from his vacation next week, we're going out for our dual celebration dinner for his birthday which is Sep 2 and our anniversary.

I forgot last book had the big cliffhanger of them rushing off the lawn during the egg hunt. Can't imagine being separated from the kids. I think they both handled it well.
Sam just keeps moving forward no matter what happens. She has strength and character. Have to give her an A for effort for attending that meeting about Stahl.
I agree, Karen I really hope this woman is trustworthy.

Congratulations on 56. I just celebrated 31 and I usually have to add to those around me, to the same man, lol!

This is my first in this series, but I am loving it. I can't imagine being separated from my kids whether biological or not, even my church or school kids would terrify me!

When you finish this book go back and start with book 1. It will all make more sense to you. This is a spin off series to her Fatal series so even starting there makes more sense! So much back story you are missing. If you enjoy the book now reading from the first would increase your enjoyment!!

Totally agree with Laura, Carrie. Definitely worth it to at least start at the beginning of this series. But for even more enjoyment, read the Fatal series first...

I for sure enjoyed this book and will be reading more for sure. I’ve just had hard time finding buddies and prefer reading and discussing, at least a little bit lol

(view spoiler)[ wow, what just happened? I had to go back and reread this last part of the chapter. Its getting intense, Sam is shot at and Jimmy takes the bullet. Scary.
It sounds like he is going to pull through, I sure hope so.
Soo....someone is following Sam? It's kinda the only thing that makes sense otherwise how would the shooter know where she is?
A mole in either the secret service or police? Though, I'm not sure that makes sense because no one would know where Sam is going ahead of time??Can't be a tracker on the vehicle... assuming they check for that

Response to Chapter 13 Don't read until(view spoiler)[ My thoughts exactly. It did say Jimmy is expected to make a full recovery on the phone. As for the secret service or police mole, I figure on the radio, but they would have to think pretty quick and make excuses to leave in a hurry. My other thought was that whoever hit the people would know where she is going to question the families.

I love how you say this is GETTING intense. It has been intense since page 1. So excited about this series. (hide spoiler)]

Are yall planning to continue this series? or just sticking with this book? I REALLY REALLY liked it. I am waiting for my comments to stay in sync with you guys as it is so much more interesting to me to hear what you have to say rather than just typing my thoughts.

Unfortunately, I don't think the next book comes out until December, Carrie...

Wow! This one is really exciting! I'm thinking that Jimmie is right. It was just a warning for Sam because of what side Jimmie got hit. Hopefully whoever is behind this is not killing these people just to get to Sam. But it's really looking that way. And I'm assuming Harlow's attack was something separate. At least I hope so!

I loved this one! So much going on. I really loved that everyone stood up for Sam (wasn't surprised though...lol) And how they were able to finally get the bad guys was so good. I love Force's books. Yes, the CH wasn't too big in this one but I also think Ethan might be kidnapped...
