Gina Jaws I really want to read/re-read some classics that we were supposed to read or other people were assigned in highschool because I want to be like educated you know and see if I am missing out on anything.

The first book I chose to start with is Catcher in the Rye The Catcher in the Rye
Let me tell you it sucks ***! I have no concept of how this could teach teenagers anything. The writing in the main characters voice if intentionally done to make him sound stupid was well done. I cannot stand him repeating himself with the same mild cuss words, or like catchphrases over and over. I would DNF but I paid good money for it and it’s not that long so I will be finishing it. Trust me, you are NOT missing out if you don’t read this ever. Somehow this book lead some dude **** John Lennon IRL like how?

Vincent Darkhelm Cider with Rosie, by Laurie Lee. Was forced to read it at school and hated it. Which is why I failed my English Literature exam. If only I'd known how wonderful it is. Now one of my favourite novels. Next time around, in my reincarnated life (fingers crossed), when I reach the age of fifteen, hopefully I won't be such an idiot.

Vincent Darkhelm I don't think Catcher in the Rye is quite as bad as you're making out, but it's definitely over-rated. Salinger's later work (what there is of it) is even worse, so consider yourself blessed that you're not reading one of those. If Salinger hadn't spent most of his life hiding in a shack, both he and Catcher would have been forgotten long ago.
