Braintree is territorial and also resents Nikki for Hardin's "early retirement". I think he wanted to believe he was right, but his stubbornness in the face of evidence to the contrary was just plain ego.
This guy drove me crazy. Stubborn is an understatement when describing him. For a while I was wondering if he was covering up for someone.
Braintree reminded me a lot of Hardin. In fact, he references Hardin as his reason for not wanting Nikki's help or advice. I thought he was a horse's patootie.
Felt like Braintree was Hardin's second and had his head up his a$$ - especially if Nikki was involved in the conversation.
This gut was all ego and show with &$%# for brains. He was stubborn for all the wrong reasons and none of it had anything to do with poor Zach being found. Maybe the child was third on his list of priorities.
