Hi there, writers. So I have a rather embarrassing issue here- I have a WIP that I've been working on for darn near 4 years and it's nearly complete- however, I've gone onto PubTips on reddit to get critiques of my query letter and realized that my WIP is potentially very flawed.
So, in short, I categorized it as a romantasy because it's set in a fantasy world and the two MCs fall in love over the course of 3 books. However... by the end of book one, they still are very much enemies and have no foreseeable future together or romantic connection. It's slow burn to an extreme, and I've been told that might turn readers off entirely.
So here's my question: Should I query this book as only fantasy with a romantic subplot, or keep it as a romantasy and add tension and hint at the romance?
I am hesitant to put in a lot more revisions because I've worked on it so long and am afraid of losing my mojo for the project and outgrowing it altogether. But I also want this book to be the best it can be. Let me know your uncensored, honest thoughts!
