Rachel N. | 2259 comments Kinsey Millhone is hired for a day by Michael Sutton. Michael is convinced he saw two men burying a body when he was 6 years old. 21 years later he's sure it was the body of a kidnapped girl and he's just recovered his memories of that day. Kinsey does some research and the police do find something but it's not a childs body. Kinsey being her usual tenacious self keeps digging into the case. There is also a subplot involving Kinsey's aunt and grandmother. This is the first book in the series I remember being told from multiple POV's. It's a bit confusing jumping around in time and between four different people. I do like this series and am sad that there are only 4 more books in it that I haven't read.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12709 comments Did someone finish the series after she passed? I read the first couple, many years ago, which I did enjoy. I should go back and start over. I remember enjoying them.

Theresa | 15789 comments Grafton wrote all of them through Y, and that was the very last. It is not being continued, unless her estate hires someone to do so. I don't believe that will happen. One of the things that Grafton said from the beginning was that she set it in the 1980s because it was before technology advanced and changed detective work forever. Y is set in 1989, the end of the decade and a tidy ending. It even reads a bit final.

Rachel N. | 2259 comments When Sue Grafton passed her family said "the alphabet ends at y now". Grafton was also very anti ghostwriters so there won't be any more books after Y. I've read the whole series in order so only 4 more for me: v,w,x and y.

Algernon (Darth Anyan) | 492 comments I think I stopped at the letter C, but I did like what I have read in the series so far. Maybe it's time to revisit. The letter Y is a fairly honorable achievement for any writer of long series.
