I've read the first chapter and I'm already in love! (view spoiler)[I adored this film as a child but have never read the book it came from but it is following the same story pretty much, so far. Bastian is such a lonely but loveable child and I remember how shocked I was, when watching the film adaptation, how the book seller treated him. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[with Acharis, the unhappiest beings in all Fantastica, i am slowly but surely thinking of this book as somehow similar as alice in wonderland, it has almost the same mystical vibe and the same child main character, i think they also have the same character arc with Bastian? It's kind of like the Rorschach test where there isn't really anything there at all it's just a way to test how unknown variables like in this game which is words make sense to someone personally. It was a really great story overall and i love the journey and lesson that Bastian learned in the book that he transported himself in. It's really goes to show that even fictional novels can impact to your real life perspective and worldview. (hide spoiler)]

Yes! It's from the 80s or something and my grandparents had an old video of it when I was little. It's dated but SO GOOD!

I'm so obsessed with this story, so far. (view spoiler)[Atreyu's mission was such a fun one to embark on and Bastian reading in his school and hearing the time and classes pass below him gave the book a cosy feel. The child-like empress is such a cool concept and I'd love to read an adult adaptation of this story where we get to learn more about her politics and an in-depth insight to the land. (view spoiler)[You're so right! They have the same whimsical qualities and both begin with a book being read and a fantastical realm fallen into. This is far more of a logical read than Alice however but I enjoy both equally as much. I'm also feeling Narnia vibes, with the children entering and saving this new realm and the existence of the lion to aid them on their journey. (hide spoiler)]
