Advance & Beta Readers discussion

Hi, my name is Campbell Anderson. I am the author of a self-published contemp romance titles The Chasm Between Us. Before proceeding with my next draft of my current WIP, I would appreciate a few beta readers to have a read of my psychological thriller set in a post-apocalyptic New Zealand's South Island.

The blurb would be something like this:

Meet Charlie and Abe: the faces of my work in progress!
Haven't decided on a title yet, but it's road trip psychological thriller, set in an apocalyptic, deserted Aotearoa's South Island.

Quiet and clever yet haunted, the twisted truth about Charlie and his past has more flesh than his appearance. There's one person who knows what happened to him...

Abe is found sitting in the upper storey of an abandoned windmill by Charlie. He's wearing dark shades, a child's hospital gown and is writing a sentence in the dust: 'The truth was black and blue and it all came down to the kid with the pistol.'

Together, they team up and leave behind the ghost town and local cemetery where Charlie is a gravedigger in order to find out what happened that has since ceased to exist in memory. The truth is going to have to be unburied.

Sounds like a drop-dead page-turner? Buckle up then, cause you're in for it! This will be one for the road you won't want to forget!

The only thing to note if you would like to br a beta reader is that it must be read and given feedback by 17th October 2025, so I can begin my 4th draft. I am happy to prepare a questionnaire if that would be easier.

Hey,

I'm a mod of another group and I just wanted to let you know that Lyric is most likely a scammer. I've noticed that this user typically gives very generic responses which is what scammers in our group used to do. Lyric's language has completely changed as of late to something more in-depth and advanced which makes me think they have since moved on to AI generated text. (This is also something scammers will do and tried to do in our group) I would proceed with caution. Best of luck,

For example, here's an earlier response from this user:

They're using AI now and if they'll use it in a proposal, they'll try to use it on your manuscript and pass it off as their own work.
