Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 4004 comments Just finished this one. My third time reading it, and it's still as fresh the third time as it was the first, despite the fact that I remembered a lot of it quite clearly.

I just love Bradbury's ability to paint a picture.

Jenny | 2260 comments I am going to reread this over the weekend I think.
I still remember reading it the first time when I was a kid. It creeped me out in such a visceral way, and at the same time it was nostalgic and kind of wholesome.

I love Bradbury too. I read his short stories every now and again just to keep his prose in my head. Or his scary/weird/brilliant ideas. I will never recover from reading The Fever (Or just Fever, I forget the title now), when I was sick with pneumonia.

Did you see the movie version with Jonathan Pryce? It was pretty good if I recall.

Ruth | 103 comments I finished my reread this week, and I was taken with the amazing imagery of a spooky small town during Fall where you can just see the fallen orange leaves blowing down the street as the creepy carnival rolls into town. And the main characters, Will and Jim, remind me so much of another set of friends, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn... always getting into trouble, but loyal to each other.

What I really enjoyed this time was how the spookiness came through. The scary pictures of how people's lives were changed by Dark and the real peril that Will and Jim found themselves in. The last few chapters were so action-packed and had me on the edge of my imaginary seat as the confrontation ramped up. Loved it!

I've not seen a theatrical interpretation of this book but would like to. Maybe it'll happen this year!!! 🎃🎠😈

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 4004 comments I've not seen the movie either, but I'll keep an eye out for it on my streaming platforms!

I can imagine it would be a dream book to film though, as Bradbury's imagery is so clear and vivid.
