I'm about a third of the way through and it's definitely exciting so far!I freaking love Jodi Taylor! 😻
I plan on getting to this one today after I get a few chores done.On a different note, did you know that the Metropolitan Opera has turned The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay into an opera? I in a million years would not have thought of that. There are a couple of clips on YouTube.
So when reading this one, I realize that I have not actually read all of the others, so I am a bit lost. It doesn't really matter though, I am getting the gist of it all.So, my first thought is what would I do if given the choice between finding out what was really going on in my life or not doing so, what would I choose.
It makes me think that (view spoiler)
If reading the other books before this one makes that clearer, let me know.
And I checked. I did read the last one. It must have been an audio that I read at work, with a lot of distractions, meaning to get back to it for a reread, but I haven't yet. Silly me,
I've read all of them and I got to a certain point and was like - we're going back to where we started! I don't think we were ever given the details of her life and what was being hidden. But they do tell in this one. Or maybe they do.

Dallas. I was talking about Dallas with someone recently. That shower scene must be in the ether somehow.
I went back an looked at Long Shadows (book 3). It does tell us what she is and that it has been hidden from her. (view spoiler)
I am going to listen to that book tomorrow. If I scramble my brain trying to keep book 3 and book 4 apart from each other, then so be it.
I had loads of fun with this one. I had some recollection of what was going on, but either way, it's all explained well enough to not matter, I think. However, at some point I'm gonna re-read this series over a short period of time, because I think that it will really benefit from doing so.
Dang it! I was actually going to recommend this series to a Canadian friend of mine, as I think she would love it, but then (ending spoiler ahoy) (view spoiler)
Ask her! She actually does answer at least some of the questions that random readers ask.I would point out that the cover might be a bit of a thing for your friend too.
I think an all at once reread of these would also be a good idea.
I love her writing of characters. And, I love her snark level. I think she might be a hoot to get drunk with. Or just to chat with.
Well I'm hoping if she re-writes, then the cover would no longer fit and therefore need to be changed 😆
Fluffy bunnies? 😆She can handle everything but snakes. And obviously clowns are out too, and I would personally prefer a distinct lack of scorpions...
I agree! I need to re-read this all again, within a short time frame.
Also, agree that I love all her books, characters and snark said characters have!

A lot of the characters have either snark or a complete cluelessness about them. I love both kinds, especially side-by-side.My absolute favourite will probably always be Markham. Many of my "laughed until I couldn't breathe" moments have involved him.
Speaking of laughing until you can't breathe... Have either of you seen the show Vicious, with Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi?
I'm pretty sure you're not averse to a swearword or two, otherwise I would say stay clear...The basic premise is the two aforementioned gentlemen are a pair of vicious old queens (as I heard McKellen describe them! lol), who have been living together for 50 years. They snipe at each other a lot.
there was one moment in particular in season 2, where hubby almost called me an ambulance because I literally couldn't catch my breath for laughing for an alarmingly long time 😆
only 2 seasons of 7 episodes each, and they're 20 minutes long a piece. I watched it over 2 days.
